I have been going to Gatlinburg for years, but this was my first stay at this hotel. They had recently redone the room we stayed in located in Building 6 (Mountain View). We were there for one week (Monday check in and Sunday check out) and did not have any serious problems. The room lighting was not very good, but was sufficient. The tub did not drain quickly, but we did not complain, or ask for maintenance to repair it. The room was large and the bathroom clean. Maid service was excellent and the hotel staff very accommodating. Our room was on the side of the mountain, so what we often did was drive down and park in an open space at the foot of the hill when we wanted to walk into town, or eat at the Gatlinburger Restaurant (on site restaurant with reasonably priced good food). If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, then this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a clean place to stay that has a great location then this is it. Speaking of location, if you are facing the Aquarium, the hotel is located directly next to it on the left on River Road. If you cross the street directly from the main entrance you can walk up the ramp into Baskins Square and walk right into the main part of town. The heated pool was reasonably clean and the ice machines were great. What else can I say...I had a good experience here and would recommend it to others. I have stayed in 5 star resorts and other luxury hotels, but for the experience, the River Terrace was great. Additionally, parking in Gatlinburg generally costs around $5 per day. Having a place to park for free in town is a bonus.
