I stayed here with my wife on the july 4 long weekend.
pros:
- affordable
- friendly staff
- clean rooms
cons:
- Its not great or should I say it is not very well maintained.
- I could not connect to their Wi-Fi and all they had to say was that there is some problem in my laptop( which obviously isn't true) and they don't know anything about it.
- the reception can be given a face lift (it is too shabby).

summary: go there if you want an economical place to live, but don't expect anything else.

We have been traveling to Gatlinburg for 30 years and in the last 25 years having been staying at Ogle's Vacation Motel. Just returned from two great trips this July-1 with family & 1 just the 2 of us. It was great to be with our friends (owners & daughter)-am disturbed about some of the negative remarks-no dead bolts/they're on all units-noise/what do you expect with all 47 units full plus all of the cars-rooms below clean/come visit/ all have been renovate & are terrific-outside of bldg./how up-to-date does your home appear?-baby in playpen/family visiting. We are there 7 times a yr./come visit/see for yourself/we love it. Remember, old wine bottle dusty but great wine inside/judge for yourselves/lady is right not the Ritz but homey.

The owners are very nice and the room was comfortable and relaxing. Since I've made couple other trips to Gatlinburg that's place I like to stay.

The title says it all. This hotel is dated. But, as long as you are not expecting the Ritz Carlton while paying for Hotel 8, you will not be disappointed. The room was very affordable and walking distance to the parkway. There is a trolley stop at the entrance to the hotel so it is very convenient. The room does not look like it has been updated since the hotel opened, but it was clean. The room had wood paneling on the walls. If you are familiar with older homes with paneling, you know that smell. It was nothing a little febreeze or a candle would not take care of. The round bed and leopard print sheets, circa 1970, were a treat. The hot tub in the room was full size and fits 2 with room to spare. We did have a efw issues while we were there. The door did not unlock with the key. This was fixed before we returned from dinner. We were charged the incorrect amount based on the price on their website. They refunded the amount back to our credit card with no questions asked. Overall, the hotel was what I expected for the low price I paid. We were only in the room to sleep so it served it's purpose.
