My wife and I have stayed at Gatlinburg countless times over the years. The hotels there are mostly independents and tend to be very uneven in quality. This hotel is a standout.
For starters, this hotel is located about a block off the main drag. For that reason alone, its a lot quieter place. That wasn't a problem on our early February stay. In fact, the city was about as deserted as I've ever seen it. But, during the summer or on peak weekends throughout the year, you would be relieved to escape the madness over on Parkway and retreat to this oasis of quiet calm.
The hotel is fairly new (less than three years) and is maintained to Hilton's usual standards. The building was built with conservation in mind and is LEED certified. They don't have to do that and it's a nice touch. Our room was comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. The wi-fi worked great, and if you prefer, they have a hard-wired internet connection right there on the desk. They've recently converted the beds over to adjustable firmness. We didn't think to check that setting the first night, but when we woke up it dawned on us that the previous guest had been used to sleeping on a plank. The second night we turned it down, waited a few minutes for it to stabilize, then went off to a comfortable night's sleep. Check the number. Turn it down unless you really (and I mean really) like it firm.
We ate at the restaurant one night and were quite satisfied with the meal quality and price.
The staff couldn't be friendlier. From the housekeeping staff to the front desk, everybody greets you when you pass. We enjoyed the stay.
