Horrific Service! This was our 1st time to Gatlinburg and wished we stayed somewhere else. I saw the ad for this hotel through Gatlinburg.com. The pictures on the website were nice and the reviews sounded ok. However, when I tried to reserve online, the site wouldn't let me. When I tried to call, there was no answer and was surprised to get their answering machine. I just thought maybe they were too busy to answer the phone, so I attempted to call more than once and for several nights prior to our trip. However, I could never get an answer and when I did leave messages on the answering machine, I didn't get any call backs. One morning, I called and got an answer. We decided to go ahead and reserve the room because most hotels were already booked with no vacancies. When we got to the hotel, there was a sign on the door stating "business hours from 8 am - 8pm." I thought they had to be kidding. A hotel that closes at 8 pm? When I went in, the receptionist was helping someone else and it seemed she was the only 1 there. I didn't even get a hello or welcome. When she saw me standing there for several minutes, she finally said "I'll be right with you." When she was checking me in, I found out she was the owner and her spouse happened to be sitting on the couch right by the desk. When I questioned about their "business hours," she said yes, they were only open until 8, but had an exception for the weekend we where there because it was a busy weekend so she decided to be there until 9pm. When I asked her, what if there's an emergency, she then replied, "call 911." I thought she was kidding but wasn't. She told me to contact the condo next door because they owned them too but the people were only there until 11pm. Therefore, there was no one there to attend to their customers from 8pm-8am. You were on your own. When we got to our rooms, it was ok, but the dresser was dusty and there were spider webs with live spiders in the bathroom. There was an airconditioner, but no heat; except for a $20 space heater you could buy at Wal-Mart. Needless to say, it didn't produce much heat for the room. You have to be careful with the water. When you are taking a shower, do not flush the toilet or turn the faucet in the sink, or your water will be freezing. The rooms have no insulation because we could hear the loud couple next door to us. We could also hear the people outside chatting away. The housekeeper was nice enough to give us clean towels for the following day, but they did not clean our room nor did they take the dirty towels. Thank goodness we were only there for 2 nights or the place would have driven me bonkers. Finally, there was no telephone in the room. Therefore, if there was an emergency, you better have a cell phone to call 911 because the owners could care less if something were to happen to you if you were staying in their hotel for they close at 8 p.m. Needless to say, we will never go back here to this junky place.
