“Village in dated but nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I stayed in the Village Inn during an August 2011 trip to Glacier National Park. As stated by most everyone, the view was amazing. We were on the upper level, and it never got old just staring at the mountains and Lake McDonald. The room itself was nice enough. The decor and furnishings are a little dated, but they are comfortable and clean. A basic, comfortable place to crash after a full day hiking. I definitely would stay there again.

The people in the main office were helpful and friendly.

“Flat Screen with One Channel-Awesome!”

That about sums it up, a room with a view! It's like watching the Discovery Channel literally at your doorstep. We arrived in town mid-day and were taken completely surprised by the picture window overlooking beautiful Lake McDonald. After a nice dinner in town, we were drawn back to the Village Inn by the sound of horns. When we arrived on the shoreline, we were greeted by three alpenhorn players dressed in traditional attire. The music was soothing and it felt like we were in the Alps. They even took time out of their music set for people to pose with them and their extra long instruments. As they played, we watched the alpenglow in the background and said goodbye to a beautiful trip to Glacier National Park.

“Book it for the view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We enjoyed our stay at the Village inn at Apgar. As other reviewers have noted, the room is basic. But the view and the peaceful atmosphere are incredible. After a long day of hiking or driving the Going-to the-Sun road, there is nothing like relaxing on the balcony outside your room, drinking a Moose Drool, and looking out over Lake McDonald. Due to a change in travel plans, we spent the first night of our trip at the Village Lodge which is right next door. Also a basic room and ok. At first, I questioned my decision to bother changing hotels, just to go next door. But we all agreed that it was absolutely worth it. It was just a totally different atmosphere - you will love it.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a second, adjoining room in the unit.

“Incomparable Views, but Aging”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

My wife, in-laws, and I stayed in a room with a kitchenette for three nights in early September 2011, and enjoyed our stay. Be prepared for aging but clean accommodations and an incredible view out of your picture window. The kitchenette included a full-size oven, suitable for frozen pizza, and a large refrigerator, but very few pots and pans. As others have indicated, the main draw here is the view, which was remarkable. Be sure to wake up early for the sunrise, and be prepared to be sociable with your fellow guests, if desired. We appreciated the efforts of the friendly and helpful desk staff in handling our request for a unit with a kitchen.

Room Tip: Room 67 on the ground floor has a small kitchen as well as a bathtub helpful for soaking after long...

“Incredible View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

The lakeside location makes for an incredible view which changes throughout the day. The kitchen is a bonus but be warned - it is not well supplied. There is a 4 cup coffeemaker, 1 saucepan, 1 cheap skillet, one flimsy spatula. No grill or toaster. Only 4 of the following, glasses, plates, forks, spoons. There are 2 chairs outside each room. If you can, take some of your own supplies if you plan to do any cooking. They provide a tiny amount of coffee and creamer/sugar for one person. TAKE YOUR OWN! I would stay there again and be a little more prepared. There is a sign that you have to wash all the dishes before you check out.
