“Exquisite. Or Magical? Or just Lovely?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

We decided to make Fredericksburg our stopping pont on the way from home (Rochester, NY area) to the Outer Banks. We'd only passed through once before so I wasn't sure just how it would be. We are extremely glad we stayed - for the town and certainly the Schooler House.

While my wife loves antiques, I'm iffy. But this place changed my attitude. Rather than considering them "antiques" I thought of so much of the contents as "that's an old thing I remember.. isn't great they have one". Or, "isn't that clever". And "what a great combination of charming things". Everywhere you turn there are visual delights.

The rooms were just terrific. The back garden was so nice and relaxing. The breakfast was scrumptious.

We wandered into town for dinner - very nice town with great looking (mostly, it seemed) antique shops. Had an excellent dinner at Tru Luvs.

Next time - will spend more than one night.

“Simply put: The Perfect Bed & Breakfast!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2010

Words don't do The Schooler House justice. The place is phenomenal. The food was beyond delicious and the house magnificent. This B&B has a remarkably cozy and unique/historical feel to it, not to mention it was immaculately clean. Although it was too cool in the evenings by the time we returned from our day's adventure, there is a wonderful area out back to sit and relax, particularly with a bottle of wine.

Without a doubt, when we return to the area we'll be staying here!

“Warm, inviting and elegant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

What a beautiful home in an ideal location. Prior to my visit I was asked why I was visiting the area; I responded that I was most interested in the various Civil War sites. When I arrived she gave me a large number of pamphlets and magazine articles she thought would be of interest. Upon return from a run in the morning of my second day my coffee was waiting for me. Breakfast each morning was a true delight. Stunning place setting, fabulous food and a nice warm fire. Would highly recommend staying at the Schooler House.

“I'm on my way back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

The Schooler House was the perfect getaway! On the historic main drag in downtown Frdericksburg, the Schooler House is within a liesurely stroll of cute shops and yummy restaurants.

Andi's dinner recommendations were perfect (our new favorite restaurant!) - only outdone by her sumptuous breakfast the following morning! The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, the linens felt like silk, the mattress and pillows were perfectly firm. It's no wonder I'm literally on my way back down there tonight!

“Could not have been any better!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

My research of B&B's in the Fredericksburg area found the Schooler House to be the B&B of choice. The history of the home coupled with the outstanding preservation of the interior and exterior made our visit absolutely THE best.

The owners met us at the curb and after showing us to our beautiful room, offered a great walk-through of the historic home. The level of detail taken to bring this home to “life” via restoration really made a difference.

The owner greeted us in the morning with a breakfast which can only be described as fantastic. The meal was served on antique china and linen napkins but never was there a feeling of pretentiousness. All parts for the breakfast were hand-crafted in the kitchen by the owner and I will never forget the scones which were part of our great meal…easily the best scone I’ve ever had.

My girlfriend and I are going to come back for another stay and have referred this B&B to many of our friends.

Bottom line, I loved the place and look forward to another romantic, quiet “get away” .

Scott
