We recently stayed at this hotel for the second time this year. Although we’ve been to Savannah a half dozen times this is a recent, and our best, discovery. We’ve loved the old inns and B&Bs in the city but because we are now a family with a teenager, we need the extra privacy of a suite. This inn has it all. A charming historic structure (formerly a cotton warehouse and a soda bottling plant) that also offers apartment-sized suites for families. The suites are well-equipped and beautifully decorated with two separate, large sleeping areas, a kitchenette with sink, bar fridge, coffee maker and microwave, a separate vanity/commode area bathroom, two large flat-screen TVs and free internet access. All this for about 70% the price as the crowded B&Bs in town. The inn’s public areas offer the deep-south charm visitors are looking for with period-style furnishings, crackling fireplaces and native greenery. The beautiful courtyard is a pleasant place for breakfast or an afternoon cocktail. Afternoon tea, cookies or wine (weekdays) is provided by the inn each day and encourages visitors to mingle and exchange tips about their visit. There is also a breakfast restaurant and cocktail lounge in the lobby. Location was our only concern but turned out to be a moot point. Located basically at the very end of the walking/shopping part of Bay St/River St, it is less centrally-located than other hotels. However, there are public trolley stops literally at every exit door out of the lobby. A visitor can park their car in the hotel’s private parking garage when they arrive and not need it again until they leave. The inn is on one of the city’s beautiful squares and a five minute walk from popular restaurants like Pink House. It is also directly across the street from one of our family favorites: The Pirate House. River Street access is also just across the street; however visitors should note that this access includes a steep stairwell. We just love this inn and hope you to see you there soon!
Room Tip: Bay St. goes quiet after 10pm so don't worry about street level noise.
