Savannah is not the easiest city to negotiate by car, so we were happy to have the valet waiting and helpful as we drove up to the Marshall House. We stayed for two nights and were so glad to be able to ditch the car. Our room (201) was a unique shape. The door opened to the desk area and a window. To our right was a cheery bright bathroom, while a long hallway on the left led to our bed. Yes, it was a little tight, but felt larger because of the shape. There was a side table that held a small fridge and a couple of bottles of water waiting for us. The floors were creaky, but that only added to the ambiance. The view from our room faced the air conditioning units on the roof, so not great there, but we didn't have any street noise. Anyway, the drapes were so nice, it was fine by us to keep them closed.
Breakfast was included and was served in a lovely atrium location that reminded me of some places I visited in Europe.
We were particularly pleased with our location. It was only a short walk to the waterfront, and an equally short walk to many of the Savannah squares and historic buildings. It was also only a block away from Leopold's ice cream, where we ate twice.
The service was excellent and always cheerful. You really feel pampered. I hope we have the opportunity to return some day. This place is a gem.
