This is definitely a budget destination. We spent 3 nights, and while the beds were comfy and we slept well, the first night we considered checking out and going somewhere else. Then we decided to stay since we were already unpacked.
First the pros-staff was very friendly and informative. Location was just across from a shopping center with Marshall's, TJMaxx, JoANN and couple eating places. Little Japanese eat in/take out was good. Oglethorpe Mall about two blocks away. Each room is large with a seating area, bedroom area and separate bath/dressing area. Breakfast each AM is good with the standard choices, but neither of the toasters worked. The lids for the coffee cups didn't fit.
The cons are numerous-though the price is reasonable, I suggest you spend another $10 as you may want to stay somewhere else. I thought it was a little cheaper because it was about 15 mintues from the HIstoric District, but it is cheaper because it is OLD. Everything is out of date, though they have tried to bring it up to date. The rooms open on the lobby in a "U" shape, and anyone talking in the lobby can be heard in your seating area. The decor looks like your grandmother's house that she has lived in for 50 years. The TV has to be swiveled from the seating area to the bedroom. We never could get a remote that worked correctly. We asked for two clean glasses for our room-no one knew where to find them????The metal door frames were rusting at the bottom in the bath, there was a dirt pile in the corner of the bathroom behind the door that hadn't been disturbed in years. The tub has a huge gouge out of the porcelain. Someone had done a dreadful job of caulking in the bathroom. And the Heat/AC unit is about 1 foot from the head of the bed so you have a draft on your head all night. We finally turned it off.
I could go on but you get the picture. It is an old property that needs to be gutted and redone, but I doubt it is financially feasible to do so.
About 15 mintues straight up Abercorn St. from the Historic District.
Room Tip: I would say rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor would be quieter. Staff and guests have a tendency to talk lo...
