This hotel like most others in downtown Savannah clearly seems to cater to the tourist market. But that should be no excuse to have less than stellar service, or room maintenance performed. We checked in and got a room on the second floor near the elevators. Surprisingly it was fairly quiet, even with being by the elevators; noise from the hall was not an issue.
The suite itself was clean, had a small refrigerator and microwave, and while small felt very comfortable. The bed was OK, but the heat / air conditioning is provided by a window sill mounted unit. And no matter what hotel I am at, I always find these types of units to be too loud for my tastes. I have now made traveling with earplugs and wearing them at night a necessity for a good night’s sleep – just in case I get a room with this type of heat / AC unit.
The toilet was separate from the shower and we really liked that. While the toilet was small it was large enough for the purpose. There is a sliding door that closes off the toilet area and it came off of its track when opened up – this made it difficult but not impossible to open and close the door.
The shower itself was large which I love, with a tall glass front and glass door. However the water proof seal on the bottom of the door leaked a lot. And after a moderate length shower there was a large puddle of water on the floor. I’ve run in to this before and really hate it as it takes up a bunch of towels to soak up the water. We let the front desk know of the leak, but since we had already unpacked all our bags and settled in decided to just keep the room as we were only staying there two nights.
We asked for and received extra towels to soak up the water for another shower later that evening.
The next day we once again asked the front desk to make sure we had extra towels due to the shower leak. However this time when we returned to our room, while it had been serviced, there were no extra towels left behind. I called the front desk asking for extra towels and it took over an hour to get them. I suppose I could have personally gone to the front desk to get some, but feel that part of good service is for guest services to bring them up – which should have already been done.
Basic internet in the rooms is free, which I feel all hotels should offer. Internet connectivity was good via the hard wire LAN - I did not check to see if there was WiFi but presume there was. The breakfast was also complimentary – it is a basic expanded Continental style, with scrambled eggs and precooked sausage patties. There are also a couple of waffle makers which is always a nice treat. Overall breakfast was good. Coffee and tea is provided 24 hours in the lobby, and there are small coffee makers in the rooms.
All in all this hotel is in a good location to just about anything in downtown Savannah. Our room view was nothing to be impressed by, with the window facing an alley and back side of another building.
I am giving this hotel 3 stars, or an average rating – I would stay here again, giving the hotel one more chance to impress me. But if it didn’t do it that time, I would not stay here again.

robhummer,
Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. I am happy that you enjoyed the setup of your room, the breakfast, complimentary internet (we do offer wireless as well), and our location! I sincerely apologize that you did find shortcomings with your stay, in the leaky shower, and in the delay in delivering towels to your room that should have been there upon your return. I can assure you that this is not our usual standard of service, as we strive to keep each guest happy and well taken care of. I appreciate you point these things out so that they may be addressed.
I am happy that you are willing to give us another chance. We'd love to have you back and show you our true colors. Please let our Management team know when you are coming back to Savannah and I will personally see to it that you have a wonderful stay.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Lee Smith - General Manager
