“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We had a lovely stay in this tastefully decorated, relaxing B & B. The Spanish Moss Inn is perfectly located in Savannah's historic district, and within walking distance of many sights, restaurants and attractions. We did a lot of shopping around for the right "Southern vibe" and cost, and prices at the SMI are notably lower than comparable accommodations in the area. Having spent 2 nights at the Spanish Moss Inn, I can't say exactly why their prices are lower, as the experience was very pleasant. We just lucked out, I guess!

Each afternoon, wine and cheese (and more!) are served to guests who spread out across the inn's beautiful public spaces for conversation and conviviality. The rooms at the Spanish Moss Inn are well-appointed, and details related to guest comfort have clearly been thought through. Very comfy beds, high quality sheets, earplugs by the bed, bottled water, music playing in the room upon arrival, etc, etc, etc. The rooms are all unique, & decorated with beautiful antiques. For those of you who do not care for typical B&B decor of lace doilies and floral patterns everywhere, you will enjoy the tasteful atmosphere at the SMI. Breakfast was tasty, although I'm not sure they currently have the amazing gourmet chef in the kitchen that other reviewers have commented on. One morning we had breakfast together with other guests, prepared in the inn's dining room. The other morning, the owners both had to work and we were sent down the street to a lovely cafe where the service was excellent and the food was some of the best we had in Savannah. It was nice to have two different breakfast experiences that weekend.

We would definitely recommend the Spanish Moss Inn to others who are visiting Savannah looking for that "Southern vibe"!

“Fantastic place to stay!”

I picked the Inn from a list on the internet and until we arrived was worried about my choice especially as my husband & I were travelling with 2 other couples. The worry was a waste of time. We arrived early and the owner, Sam Ferriera went out of his way to accommodate us until we could get into our room. As we were the youngest in our group we took the Attic Room which was up 3 short flights of stairs. The room was fantastic. The only downside would have been the street noise early in the morning but as we choose the Inn in part due to location it wasn't an issue. Our friends stayed on the second floor (Gold Room) and in the Garden Room. All room unique. The whole Inn is exceptionally clean & well maintained. You can tell it is a labour of love for the owners, Sam & Elena. Every evening we had a 'cocktail hour' with wine, cheese platter etc (after a big lunch it was all we needed fofr supper). We will definitely stay there next time we are in Savannah.

“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Absolutely beautifully done. Stayed in the Garden Room which was wonderfully cool during the hot temps at the end of Sept. Sam, the inn keeper was gracious and helpful and all of the little touches were perfect. Breakfast was excellent and the only thing disappointing was the Savannah weather that either wanted to soak us or roast us!

“Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Savannah!”

We visited Savannah for my husbands 40th birthday. Neither of us had ever visited before but being from the South we knew we would love it. We stumbled upon the Spanish Moss inn on a bed and breakfast site and believe me the pictures on line do not do it justice!! The owners are fabulous, sweet, so accommodating and helpful! We stayed in the largest room on the basement level and it was huge! Beautiful brink walls everything has been renovated in this historic 1800s home. Super comfy beds, music and fireplaces in the rooms, gorgeous patio on the back and nice big porch on the front. At 4 everyday complimentary wine and yummy snacks are served while jazz plays all through the house. The bathroom in the basement room is separate from the where you sleep but it's just down the hall. The breakfast is divine and served at 9:30 each morning. Coffee and trays are available to take outside or to your room for early risers! Bay street faces the front of the house so the front two rooms can be noisy but they offer earplugs if needed. They are located right across the park from River street as well. We walked everywhere and it was amazing! Go in the fall for all of the festivals, music and gorgeous weather! The Pink House is a must go early for cocktails in the basement bar by the fireplace and be sure to have the grouper with crabmeat stuffing, the buttermilk mash potatoes and the BLT salad ... One of the best meals I've had as a foodie! Get fresh oysters on river street and watch them shuck them right in front of you at the fiddler crab house. Take a carraige ride but avoid the ones whose drivers are wearing red shirts--very expensive, scripted tours. Instead go with the black and white dressed drivers- very inexpensive and delightful!! Also eat at Chi Bella if you can it's a local, yummy restaurant with amazing food! Stay at the Spanish Moss Inn and tell all of your friends it's amazing!! We met wonderful couples that were staying too so you really get to know everyone and it truly feels like family!

“A true Hidden Gem!”

Was very fortunate to discover this wonderful B&B! Questions prior to check in were answered via email in a timely fashion by the owner. Needed early check in and reserved parking-no problem at all. On arrival was very impressed with the ease and personal attention provided by staff. Property was located right on Bay St (a busy street) however traffic was not noticed. Garden room was top notch, courtyard lovely and secluded. Morning skipped the breakfast (due to wonderful meal night before!) and had coffee and biscuits in the courtyard. Was VERY impressed, will be staying here again in the near future.

Room Tip: Website was very accurate in regards to room appearances, location and amenities. Rooms vary in size...
