“Business Travelers Beware!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

I recently stayed at the Boston Christopher on business. They charged my credit card 1/2 when I made the reservation and 1/2 a few days before my stay commenced. But they also charged a 5% processing fee each time too. Unfortunately, the invoice they emailed to me doesn't show the 5% processing fee, so I'll need to eat that charge personally as opposed to getting reimbursed by my employer. I've called the hotel twice and left messages to see if I could get an accurate invoice but now several days later still have absolutely no response from them. Who runs a business like that? And isn't it somehow illegal not to provide an accurate invoice? Anyway, I'll avoid this place on my next visit to Boston.

“This place was awesome!!!!!”

The room was fully equiped, everything worked.... The location was perfect.... Walking distance to anything you could possibly want to see... If you don't want to walk then access to the T's are within a couple blocks. The neighborhood was Historic. I walked alone late in the evening and at no time did I ever feel threatened... I loved the apartment and the area.... Anytime I called the main office they were always friendly and always helpful... Price was very affordable....I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to singles or families.....

“I'll be back!”

In advance of our arrival we received a keyless entry code - it worked efficiently.

We stayed in the one bedroom suite. There was a fireplace in our unit (so cool), and beds were comfortable. The unit was much larger than a hotel room... which is pretty amazing as it is not expensive at all. Wireless internet was free and worked great. It even had a kitchenette, a roof deck and free laundry on the ground level! The suite was definitely nicely appointed and updated.

There was no front desk on site, but the building is located in a terrific area of Boston, where we also felt very secure and safe.

I really liked the privacy and autonomy. This concept is great: we had a need to reach the remote "front desk" and did easily via the telephone in our suite. We spoke with a guy called "Michael" that we found to be extremely helpful. He gave us touring ideas and made dinner recommendations to a local restaurant called Mistral. Absolutely delicious...

It was a great way to travel and wish other cities offered these style units...

“If price is your only criteria stay here.”

The good
- Good location. Close to restaurants, shopping and the MBTA. The metro, orange and green lines, is 4 to 5 block walk not the 2 blocks the booking agency tells you. Pleasant walk when not raining
- Price is great for Boston but you get what you pay for.
- Nice 42 inch flat panel TV with cable. A little complicated to work but a lot nicer than most hotels.
- Rooftop deck if you feel like hauling yourself to the roof.
- There is free laundry in the basement but the wash cycle takes almost an hour.
- Microwave, coffee pot, stove, refrigerator and dirty utensils.

The Bad
-No close parking. The most convenient is Central Parking at the Prudential Center. Posted rate is $39/24hrs, but with internet coupon from Central Parking it is $25/24hrs. Something the booking agency didn't mention.
- No room services
- No elevator. This is an old 4 story Brownstone with rooms starting on the 2nd floor. Can be a long haul to the 4th floor with luggage or after a late night.
- Room small.
- No temperature control for the room. There are 3 units per floor with the front unit controlling the temp for all three units.
- Room esp bathroom in bad need of an update esp. painting.
- Room was dirty esp the area rug.
- Furniture was spartan although the bed was adequate.
- There was some food in the room. Juice and granola bar past date and instant oatmeal looked like it had been there a long time.
-Entryway and rugs on stairs really dirty.
- After reading a post about the entry code not working and long wait to get in the place I contacted the booking agency. They assured me the code would work. It didn't. If you call their emergency number you'll' get attention but otherwise your told to leave a message.
- Problems with getting rooms on the correct credit card.
There it is the good the good, the bad and maybe the ugly. You get what you pay for.

“Great location, bit student like!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

Boston is not the cheapest city to find good accommodation, so you do get what you pay for. The Christopher apartments are comfortable enough but do have a feel of student accommodation about them. We had the studio apartment which was pretty cramped, it was well furnished but a little dirty particularly the communal area. It was noisy within the room mainly from other guests above, I was happy to put up with this as I paid a reasonable rate for Boston @ average $169 per night but would have been more upset had I stayed in a more expensive suite/apartment. That said, it is in the very nice neighbourhood in Boston's South side with plenty of restaurants and bars close by and the transit station within a 12 minute walk.
