“The Liberty Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The Liberty is a great hotel that's close to the Garden, the North End, and Cambridge, right across from the Charles River. Beautifully renovated old jail with several dining options and clubs. We did not eat here, but the restaurants and clubs were busy each night. I was upgraded to a great room with excellent views of the city and river. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Everything is new and clean. The check in was a snap, and valet was always quick. I have no trouble recommending this hotel as I will be returning soon.

“New favorite Boston hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I love this hotel! It's not cheap but fits us perfectly. Wonderful service from bell/door men, valet (left two bottles of water in the car fo the ride home), front desk, etc. We requested early check in as we were going to a 1:00 Bruins game and the room was ready at 11 am! Love, love the lobby! The lobby bar was hopping after the game, there are lots of chairs and couches and nearly all were taken. The atmosphere of this hotel is chic and upbeat and much more of a youngish (we are in our fourties) crowd, it's upper market but not at all stuffy. Rooms are small but really nicely kItted out and have a modern yet cozy feel. Wine glasses and corkscrew are provided (nice touch) as wall as a cocktail shaker and cocktail glasses. The mini bar included several nice half bottles of wine with a good selection of beer and mini bottles of liquor. At the foot of Charles street and near the Garden it's a great location and we will definitely be back soon.

Room Tip: Higher floors will have best views of either the river or downtown.

“Thought it would have been better.”

I have dined here many times but this was the first time staying in the hotel. My husband and I were staying for the weekend. Arrived on a Friday. Valet guys were friendly and accommodating. Very smooth check in. But they should have more than 1 person working. No upgrade available for Starwood Gold.. They gave my husband a glass of champagne I enjoyed a lemonade. Had lunch and dinner at Scampo. Jess and Lisa are bartenders and were both fantastic! I am 5 months pregnant and Jess made me the most fabulous speciality drink! She really went out of her way to make us feel special. Dinner was out of this world! Pizza was fabulous and the parpadelle pasta was perfect! Scene is great...
Down side: rooms are tiny, I had a room with a queen bed and it was ok but I got my sister and her family a room for a night and the 2 double beds were so close to each other there was no room to move in her room. They couldn't even bring up a cot because that would have been a fire hazard. Our tv channel guide didn't match up to the tv. Impossible to watch anything. I had to personally clean my remote control. The towels were like sand paper. The walls are paper thin, I can tell you exactly what the people in the room next to me we're doing and their plans for the day. There was no privacy tag for the door, not even that cool solitary thing that some people get. I was in bed taking a nap with my husband not fully dressed and the housekeeper came right in! We went to catwalk for drinks, everyone ordered their drinks and I told the waitress that I was pregnant and would love a fruity non alcoholic drink to have the bartender come up with something! She brought me orange juice! Straight orange juice! Very disappointing after such a great cocktail from Scampo the night before. She was not attentive and didn't seem to know much about anything.
I wish I could say that I would stay here again cause I am a Starwood Owner but I probably won't. But I will eat at Scampo again!

Thanks also for your positive remarks on our valet service. As a Gold member, it is always a priority for us to provide any available upgrades. “Not worth the price”

This hotel is crowded and trendy and unless you are a young single looking to mingle, it is not worth the price of a room.

Thank you for selecting our hotel last spring and for your review. Our intent was to create a “quintessentially Boston” experience for our guests that is unique and memorable. As a result we created a suite of complimentary events that appeal to a variety of interests including cooking, art, music, fashion and health. Fashionably Late is one of our most popular “affairs” and can produce our greatest attendance. For a quieter evening I would encourage you to try Gallery Night or Margate Monday’s where our Chef Joseph Margate does cooking demonstrations in Clink. We hope that you will return again!

“Loved the Liberty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Liberty in Boston. Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the glass of champagne they poured for me at check-in. The room was super comfortable and quiet. Bathroom was large and luxurious. Public spaces were great. Friendly bartender. Incredible views of Boston and Cambridge. I love the location, but I am familiar with Boston. I can see how out-of-towners might be confused with the driving in this part of town. Just park once. The location is so convenient that you can reach everything on foot or on the subway. Suggestion - I skipped the $42 valet parking, and parked on my own at the Mass General garage a few steps away, which was very reasonably priced. I will definitely go back to the Liberty.
