My husband and I drove into the city for the night to see the Bruins game and this hotel was on sale through Expedia for a good deal. I liked the idea of being so centrally located as we really enjoy walking through and exploring Boston on foot. We arrived at the hotel early and were able to check right in which was nice. I wasn't impressed with the faded and ripped carpet but the check-in process was easy and the staff person was friendly. We were directed to a tiny elevator up to our room. The elevator was very old and dated. The hallway to our room was very worn and the walls were scratched and marked up. Not what I would have expected for a Hilton. Our room was small but the size was fine for my husband and I. The bathroom didn't have a tub, only a stall shower which was disappointing. I've never stayed in a hotel with only a shower. The toilet was slow to flush. The carpet in our room was very stained and I didn't feel comfortable walking barefoot on it. The bed itself was very comfortable but the noise you could hear outside was unbelievable. Most hotels have a unit which helps to drown out the noise and I was really surprised to find that this only had a wall thermostat. There was a fan feature but it did nothing for the noise. Every five minutes there were ambulances going by blaring their sirens. Tufts Medical Center is directly across the street. Finally at about 3am I had to get up and put makeshift toilet paper ear plugs in my ears which only helped slightly. There were people having conversations in the hallway that you could hear as if they were right inside our room. It was really the longest and most tiring hotel experience I've ever had.
Room Tip: Bring a plug in fan to help drown out the noise and flip flops to avoid walking barefoot on the carp...

Thanks for your feedback Cape Cod Traveler, and I am so sorry you were disappointed with our hotel. I’m sorry that you thought the Lobby looked a bit worn, and I am happy to report that this Spring we will begin renovations of the entire Lobby/bar and restaurant area. As for the tiny elevator, I’m sure you are referring to the bellman elevator from the parking/ground floor entrance to the Lobby, which is typically used by disabled guests or luggage. Otherwise there is a large entry staircase the leads from the parking/ground floor to the Lobby. To get from the Lobby to the guestrooms, there are two elevators from the Lobby to the guestrooms, and both are spacious and updated.
It’s good to know that you were able to check-in early, had a pleasant Front Desk experience, and found the bed comfortable, but I am really sorry to hear you were otherwise unhappy with the condition of the room. I wish you had contacted myself or the Manager on Duty about this. We would have been happy to place you in another room immediately assuming one was available. I am not sure from your review if the hallway noise was persistent, but if so, a call to the Front Desk would have generated a visit by the Manager or the Front Desk staff, and perhaps could have quieted the noise outside in the hallway. In the worst of situations, like that you described, the Front Desk is equipped with personal care amenities including earplugs.
I’m truly sorry about you experience with us, and hope you will reconsider staying with us based on your positive impression of the location and room renovations. Furthermore, if you return, would you contact me directly? I will make sure your room meets your expectations and is located in a quieter location in the hotel. Please accept my sincere apology.
Sincerely,
Jayne
