“I really liked this hotel, but not for light sleepers”

This is a great Morgan's group hotel -- great decor, rooms have very high ceilings with huge windows, comfy bed, great toiletries, nice restaurant, great mini-bar items, very convenient location. Its obviously got the art-deco South Beach thing going on (which I love). When I got to my room I was really happy I picked it for my trip..... and then I went to sleep (or tried to). The hotel is right over the T, and if you are a light sleeper like I am (but probably not a normal or heavy sleeper), you will be up all night, even with earplugs in (it is sound and vibration). And I was on the second highest floor. But if you have no sleep issues, it is a touch of style in downtown Boston.

Thank you for your stay! I'm glad that you chose us as well! Your description of the room and the decor is spot on. I'm sorry that you had some trouble getting to sleep. Certainly the noise and vibrations have different effects for different people, and I'm sorry that you were inconvenienced. That said, I'm glad that you overall enjoyed your stay, and I hope you'll be back again soon!

“Very nice stay”

We had a very nice one night stay at the Ames. The room was smallish, but not uncomfortably so, and really nicely designed in a minimalist style. The bed was extremely comfortable. And the ganache tart from room service was delicious.

One thing to take note of if it's your first time here: the hotel is not marked at all, so I would advise looking at the exterior photos so that you know what the building looks like. Otherwise it would be very easy to miss it and not that easy to get back since it's on a one-way street.

Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. We have many different sizes of rooms, so if the one you were in was a bit too cozy for you, please let me know so that I can help you choose something that would better suit your needs. We are also working on getting signage for the front of the hotel, but it is proving to be difficult since we are an historic building. Please feel free to email me at nina dot sweet at morganshotelgroup dot com if I can help you with any future reservations needs.

“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My g/f and I stayed here for a weekend and were very happy with the experience. Beautiful hotel and very close to the Quincy Market area and a T stop. So we had no issue finding things to do. Also, the concierge Charles was extremely helpful getting us tickets to a Celtics and making a dinner reservation.

“Clean, Efficient But Without Charm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I find it difficult to understand why this hotel is accorded so many superlative comments. That being said, believe me when I say the staff is great--- accomodating and friendly. However, the entire experience left me a bit cold. The decor is too sterile for my taste. It was also a tad bit expensive. I wouldn't have minded the extra dollars had the presentation been somewhat more to my liking. There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It simply does not conform to my taste.

Thank you for giving us a shot. Our hotel and design are certainly not for everyone. For those that do prefer more modern and minimalist decor, we seem to hit the mark. I appreciate you trying us out, and if you do decide to come back again, you can certainly email me and I can help find a room that might be better for you.

“New Years Eve in Boston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I decided to plan a last minute (about 4 days prior) trip to Boston for New Years Eve. I looked around a little until I found the Ames which was right in the middle of everything pretty much. The price was really not that bad considering how late I booked. I did not go through the hotel's website as it was about 100.00 more expensive than priceline. The room was very nice. It had cathedral ceilings which made up for the size of the room. The furniture was very nice and modern and despite some negative reviews about the bathroom I had read, it was nice and the shower did not make that much of a mess at all. We usually stay in Kimpton Hotels but I think we will definately switch to the Ames when in Boston. Warning, not a hotel for families or people that are light sleepers. My wife and I enjoy the sounds of the city but if you are sensitive to it then this will be a problem for you. Overall very enjoyable stay.
