“Almost 5/5 but not quite.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed at The Lenox in November 2011. I travelled to Boston with my husband, our 1 year old son and my mother. We had been planning this trip for ages and were very excited to see both Boston and the hotel. We had a good trip to Boston and despite worrying how our son would take to his first transatlantic flight, everything had gone perfectly. We arrived in Boston on Thanksgiving. After having to wait ten minutes to check in, we were 'processed' so quickly and abruptly I was left shocked at how different check in was to how I expected it to be. Considering nearly all of the reviews compliment the hotel on it's service, I was disappointed that we did not get to experience this.

Once we arrived in the room things did not improve. We expected that the room would be prepared for the number of people staying in it. However despite there being 3 adults and a baby staying in the room it was only set up for two. We mentioned this to the staff at reception and received no apology. Surely if there are three adults in the room it should be expected that the room would be prepared in such a way. Although we did receive some more towels after requesting them. We never did receive an extra bathrobe or glass.

We also expected a clean room. Two days into our stay my one year old son pulled a pair of women's boots from underneath the bed. Inside the boots were some over the counter drugs. I think it is disgusting that the housekeeping staff do not hoover or at least check under the bed in between guests. Furthermore, we were also angry that my son could have swallowed the over the counter drugs he found in the boots if we hadn't been watching him. At least this time we received an apology from the staff on reception.

It is such a shame that this all happened so soon after our arrival. We had a lovely flight and journey to the hotel and were in good spirits and this brought a real downer on our stay. As it was me who had booked the hotel I could only apologise to my mother and husband.

In the subsequent days of our stay we experienced some lovely service from all members of the staff. I can not compliment Jerry or the subsequent young ladies on reception enough. However the two young ladies on reception when we arrived were a real let down, luckily we did not encounter them again during our stay.

I contacted the hotel on my return and i can not commend them enough for the reply I received. Not only did we receive a huge apology, we also received a refund for costs we charged to the room and an offer for a free night should we return to Boston.

The hotel is gorgeous and it is in a great location. The hotel deserves all of the good reviews that it has received, i hope that we were just unlucky on this occasion. I would still recommend this hotel to friends.

“Fantastic Hotel in Back Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We found The Lenox hotel on tripadvisor for a 2 night trip to Boston. We had to take our 17 month old daughter to the Children's Hospital Boston and wanted to stay somewhere nice. This hotel exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a King Junior Suite on the 11th floor and it was an allergy friendly room (which was a really nice surprise). We had a corner room with fantastic views of the Back Bay area, and the room was very elegant and cozy. We were never disturbed by anyone and never heard noises from the hall or elevators as I've seen some other people post. It was quiet and relaxing! When we checked in, they brought our daughter a stuffed animal and brought us up some milk for her. You don't find people who will do that kind of stuff for you at just any other hotel. Everyone was just over the top nice 24/7 and there were friendly faces all over there place. We had one small issue with the mini fridge in our room, but it was our fault for not calling down to let them know it needed to be fixed. The little door to the freezer part wouldn't close, so everything in the fridge was either frozen solid or in the form of a slushy. But, like I said....after running all over Boston and chasing after a 17 month old, we were too busy to stop and remember to call down. Overall, this hotel was fantastic and we'd love to stay there again. We will be making 2 more trips to Boston over the next couple of months and as long as the rates are decent, we'd love to stay there at least 1 more time!

“The Lenox was special for us”

We found the Lenox in Trip Advisor but of course there are always some unhappy comments so you never know for sure until you get there. We stayed there with our 9 yo grand daughter in November and could not have been happier. It's an old but charming in every way from the lay out to the staffing. We had a very large corner room--no noise! It's hard to describe "charm" but we will never forget the Xmas decorations going up around the hotel and on the street. The lighted "Lindt" chocolate shop on the corner with the Lenox behind it. The staff were wonderful from the doormen to the front desk to the house maids who treated our grand daughter like a princess. We love old hotels with atmosphere and this one was a keeper. We would not stay anywhere else in Boston.

Room Tip: Our far corner room on the 4th(?) floor was large and superb.

“Spectacular in every sense of the word”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We chose the Lenox for a vacation weekend in Boston and could not have been happier. Excellent, friendly service from the moment we stepped through the door, a fantastic location in the Back Bay, a very spacious and well-appointed room (the suites and junior suites have working fireplaces - its worth the charges to upgrade) and an extroadinary list of available amenities for free or at a small charge.

I'm a longtime busines traveler and typically prefer the well-known premium brands such as Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton. The Lenox is all that those hotels aspire to be, and then some. We will definetly be returning.

“Best Boston Hotel”

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in a prime location in Boston with outstanding customer service! Have stayed in other Boston hotels and this is tops on our list. Terrific restaurants if you wish not to venture out during your stay. Tastefully decorated and most comfortable rooms. Inviting lobby with fireplace and seasonal beverages and cookies. Aveda bath products and Lindt Truffles with night-time turn-down, and free bottle water are welcome treats. And even a terrific little workout room. Highly, highly recommend staying here as you will be treated like a king / queen. Skip the chains and stay in a unique, quaint hotel in a great location with superior customer care!
