My husband and I traveled to the Pines for our one year wedding anniversary. It is only minutes from downtown Asheville, And the best part for us out of towers is that you can take the road the inn is on straight into town. Making the commute very easy when you don't have to worry about turns or exits. The hotel feels like you're way out of town, but there are grocery stores quite convenient. The cottage was very quaint and cozy. We stayed in cottage 2. The bathroom was quite small, and the shower was a small single stall. But we loved having the kitchenette that was fully stocked with kitchen basics. If you like modern buildings without quirks, this is not the hotel for you. But if you love older buildings with more character, this is perfect. We loved all the trees outside our cottage and the simple views the Windows afforded.

Sweet set-up of about 20 Cottages nestled off the Highway and surrounded by trees. This place was close to downtown Asheville but far enough away to not be right in the city, which we didn't want. With Asheville in one direction the 'Blue Ridge Parkway' entrance was even closer in the other direction.
The cabin we stayed in was very pleasing and pet friendly with wood floors in the main living space(big improvement over some of the carpeted hotel rooms we had stayed in along the trip). The main space was clean and spacious with a king sized bed made up with fresh and clean white linens. The bathroom was small but workable(keep in mind the date these cabins were built). Same goes for the kitchen, small but workable with all the appliances necessary for an extended stay, including full size fridge. All the cabins had their own out door spaces with porches to sit on and enjoy the mountain air with morning coffee or a glass of wine after a day of site seeing. The manger Allen was very helpful about where to go and how to get there.
As I said before this place is not far from the city so if you are looking for seclusion, this is not the place for you. Though surrounded by trees it is situated between 2 highways, one local and the other an interstate. The highway noise, I would say was the only real negative. All in all I really enjoyed the stay and would love to come back in the autumn.
As a footnote...Make the trip 5 mile down the road into Weaverville, for a casual dinner at the Blue Mountain Pizza and Brew Company. I'm from New England and I will put this pizza up against those you get in NY and New England. Not to mention it was a cool little place.

Unique, private, quiet, perfect for a slower paced get away. Has a certain charm that you won't find in your fancy big hotel's. We stayed in cabin #2, plenty of room for 2. Be aware the bathroom is smaller,I'm 6'3" 210 so a Lil challenging but not impossible. Kitchen, comfortable bed, secluded.

We could not have picked a more perfect location to accommodate our wedding party. The Pines Cottages were (are) charming and secluded enough to give our group the privacy we wanted, and the comfort we needed. Having rented nearly every available bunk, our group had the run of the hillside, and were able to fully enjoy the picnic/campfire area to our hearts' content. Alan, the owner, and Cilla, our jack of all trades/coordinator, were wonderfully helpful, and extremely forgiving of our group's penchant for late night partying. Having rented out our cabin for over a week, we were able to relax in the serene woods after a hectic weekend of wedding planning and activity. Regardless of how you plan on using The Pines, I cannot stress how perfect this hidden gem was in making our wedding the best weekend of our lives.

Room tip: cozy and friendly

We stayed in the incredibly quaint Cabin 6, and had an unbelievably wonderful time. The cabin was well-furnished and wonderfully decorated. The office staff were helpful and friendly, and the cabin was extremely clean. The cabins are older and under some renovation, but for us, that only added to the charm. You absolutely can't find a better place for a better price! We can't recommend it highly enough.
