“Perfect Spot on River Close to Asheville - Rude Hosts/Owner”

RV spots 10' from the river...beautiful view....great place to swim & sit with chair in water....tube from your campsite down 1 mile to a park (where you can leave return vehicle) but be careful...rapids can be Class 2 and very rocky...must wear shoes; Asheville is literally 10 min. drive downtown; not suilable for big RV's over 30'...steep entrance and tight turn; full hook up and CATV; only issue was RUDE host/owners....we paid deposit with credit card but as soon as we stepped outside the next AM the guy was demanding we "go to the Office to pay".....my folks came to visit/eat lunch but had to pay to park...lady (owner/Mgr?) was a jerk....."All guests must register and pay"; other than their attitude & the campground buildings/bathhouse being run down/old, the place is OK

“NOT really spacious.”

If you are in a camper or RV - be prepared to do some fancy backing to get in your space. Very tight. Saying the sites are spacious are a joke. Maybe the tent sites further down the road are, I didn't check. Granted the spots have concrete slabs that are level which is on the plus side. Campground is peaceful. (the train does come thru in the middle of the night though) Had a great time. Bathrooms need to be repainted and fixed up a little. Spider webs everywhere- walls looked nasty.

“better than expected after reading these reviews!”

We stayed at the "Log Cabin" authenitic as it was built in 1940. One nice bedroom, and matching sized room w/futon, Fullsized Fridge and stove, single sink and microwave, w/tv. Smal Bath w/shower , common fireplace/chimney in the middle. Yes, not as clean as a hotel, the previous users are responsible for leaving it clean too... The porch was great for viewing the river, hanging out, even when raining. The teenagers weren't too impressed, but are they ever? If all you do is text and watch tv, how fancy does it need to be? My husband and I absolutely loved it for it's rustic ambience, enjoyed hearing the train in the distance, and had a pleasant visit w/Rick who lives and works at campground. He can also make suggestions on good trout fishing spots etc and entertained by his dog Norman. The boys did enjoy a day of tubing&fishing, before we went on other adventures w/in 30 min drive-rafting, ziplining, the Biltmore. Finally, nothing better than sitting on a beach chair in the river, watching ducks, others wi/their dogs wading, reading.... Heaven!! I'm not into tent camping and sharing shower facilities, so the cabin was perfect for us. We arrived late also, but no complaints from owner, they simply met us after arrival, and showed us our cabin. No Complaints here, if you want it cleaner, bring supplies or go to a hotel ... we will come back, it was a pleasant stay for us.... to enjoy the outdoors and relax, this is the place to be. THANKS!!

This campground was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in the Cedar Cabin (which, yes, is tiny) with four people and had plenty of space. That's because you really are just sleeping in the cabin, right? We hung out on our cute screened in porch that is just feet away from a very nice shallow portion of the French Broad River. It's also literally 10 minutes from downtown (the road the campground is on takes you directly to Lexington and all the cool shops, no turns needed :) Our neighbors live there in their camper year-round and were awesome. The owner delivered our campfire wood to our cabin when we forgot to get in on our way into town for the day and was always there for anything we needed. Even the cabin came with practically everything we needed (bring your own sheets and towels and you're set). I plan on going back in a couple of months again and will definitely stay there.

“Breathtaking Views”

We loved our stay. So relaxing to sit your lawn chair in the water and just enjoy the cool flowing water on a hot July afternoon. While we only stayed one night, we were pleasantly surprised at the site for the money. Camped on Site 3. WiFi worked perfectly. Bathrooms were adequate. We are van campers so our site was more than large enough. All the campers around us were polite and friendly. Yes, there are trains...but we live in a railroad town so I never heard but one. Kinda wish our train crazy grandson had been with us...he would have loved watching it across the river. The price was great...29.00 for a site with electric and water and a 4.00 AAA discount on top of that. A young couple across from us in the cabin seemed pleased. Reminded me of a Hansel and Gretel cottage. Stone walls with moss covered roof. Didn't go inside. They did mention the TV was broke but they weren't looking to have it fixed or replaced...just enjoying the outdoors. They did mention the water smelled like sulfur...but I didn't notice that in the bathhouse so maybe it was the old pipes. We would love to go back. Close to Biltmore. Easy access to I26. Not a 5 star campground but certainly a relaxing spot along a beautiful river!
