“Beautiful view-it's a 10!”

We stayed at Campfire Lodgings last week and could not believe the view and how clean/beautiful it was. We were in a travel trailer and not on the premium sites but our view was still fabulous. Matt was one of the best campground hosts we've ever met. He was extremely helpful, friendly, fun to talk with, and a hard worker from what we saw. He always put a smile on our face. Matt, thank you again for the toothpaste samples so we didn't have to make a run into town again. :) Campfire Lodgings and Matt are both A++ in our book!

Room Tip: they also have cabins and yurts to rent.

Lets just say that we will be talking about this vacation for years to come!

Positives:
-Campfire Lodgings is conveniently located near Asheville, the Biltmore Estate and the Great Smoky Mountains.
-If you have an RV, this is a beautiful place to stay. Beautiful view, nice hookups, nice campsites. I would recommend sites P1, P2 and P3!
-Andee in the office is a very genuine, hard working and fun person. We really enjoyed talk to her.
-Loretta the Watch Cat is great!

Negatives:
-We stayed in the Cliff House . . . . Buyer Beware! While the website and the brochure is technically accurate, it in no way prepares you for the actual stay in this not- very-clean, very musty smelling house.
-In short, dank and dingy come to mind. It is furnished in mismatched, eclectic 1950's antique items. It would be somewhat charming if it was clean. Cobwebs, spider webs and insect shavings are visible everywhere including on top of the sheets and dresser in the bedroom with the double bed.
-The yellow flocked wallpaper in the bathroom is literally falling off the walls.
-Many of the lights either don't turn on or have burned out bulbs.
-The outdoor surrounding woods engulf the cabin, choking out much needed sunlight.
-The windows are filthy and need to be cleaned so that you can see out.

Sadly, this could be a very cool place to stay in. It needs a little love and alot of cleaning. The architectural details like the fireplace and the stair cases are fantastic. It you can get past the smell, the dirt and the saw blade that greets you at the front door, then its an interesting stay.

The only humorous part of our stay was the envelope on the kitchen counter for "Housekeeper Tip".

“Amazing RV park and View, convenient location, clean bathrooms/showers, AVOID CLIFF HOUSE Like the PLAGUE”

We stayed with a group of 6- 2 in premium RV spot - INCREDIBLE!!! Amazing view, cement patio, nice landscaping, unobstructed view of Blue Ridge Mtns. And French Broad River, full hookups, cute camp store. 4 of us were SORELY disappointed with Cliff House =( Save your hard-earned money. Website is accurate, but avoids the pitfalls - HORRIBLY MUSTY AND MILDEWY, NUMEROUS COBWEBS EVERYWHERE. Felt very creeped out when we saw "droppings" on bed and dresser in bedroom. All of the antiques and amenities were overlooked because we were so upset that we paid premium $$$$ For what we got. On the positive side, they sheets and towels were clean =) Some cool antiques, too. Wi-Fi does NOT work in house. No blow dryer in any of 3 full baths. I would go back ONLY if in RV park, NEVER Cliff House.

“Ashevilles Best--Secluded , peaceful, and Great staff! Close to great eats!”

We just LOVE this place--Big RV , tent , or anything in between--this is the place! Small, super well kept, excellent bath house, pets always welcome--and the VIEWS are amazing! We love this place because you are on top of a mountain and can see to the next state --secluded and private as can be but you are only a mile from a great Ingles grocery that has everything, easy gas up and right down the street is a wonderful wine store, ABC store, high end grocery with anything you could want --go a few miles and you are downtown Asheville! Do not stay without a trip to the Sunnyside for breakfast, the Stoney knob cafe 1 mile down --great dinner for grown ups very reasonable $, Salsas downtown for lunch will knock your socks off, and many local clubs that always have great music, Tresas is THE spot to go dancing! Andy, (female)The super sweet and damn capable manager will take great care of you the entire stay --they have a super on the site 24 hours a day so any problems are handled promptly--wild life everywhere and QUIET!!!
I hate to do this review because it may be booked up when I want to go.

“Peaceful”

We stayed at an RV site. Very nice, fairly small campground which was perfect. Extremely quiet and relaxing. The sites could use a bit more trees, but we stay mostly in state parks, so we used to a bit more vegetation. Beautiful views and nice trails. Wild turkeys wandering around every morning which was great to see. Very clean. Nice individual bathrooms/showers in the bath house. Tent sites were in the woods, and were private. I would highly recommend. Also. for a great dinner check out the Stoney Knob Cafe - excellent food and ambiance (I wouldn't call it a cafe - it's a nice restaurant).
