I do work with the Lab in los Alamos, and was looking for a slightly better hotel than I had been staying in. I like Hampton Inns..and googled up the Hampton Inn/Los Alamos. I arrived about 8pm in the dark, following Mapquest directions which were incorrect...and ended up in the middle of nowhere. What I realized is that the Hampton Inn is NOT in Los Alamos, it is in White Rock...a suburb....I now this is stated on their site as follows, "Welcome to Hampton Inn & Suites Los Alamos/White Rock, New Mexico
Opened in January 2003, Hampton Inn & Suites Los Alamos is on State Road 4 in White Rock, the "bedroom community" of Los Alamos. We are just a block from the area's Tourist Information Center.
I stopped the car and called the hotel to let them know I was lost, the person on the phone let me know they are in White Rock. I let her know I needed to be in the heart of Los Alamos...she said she would need to speak to the general manager to avoi me being charged the evening...perhaps her hame is Nancy. i called back the next day only to find out that Nancy does not give a hoot..I was being charged the night. I called Hampton Inn Corporate...they will not do anythingg as well.
I am a Platinum Marriott person..and Hilton Silver person.....I find it hard to believe that a hotelier is that hard up that she is utilizing the combination of fraudulant advertising and enforcing the cancellation penalty for a one time miscue. But....I can tell you I will NEVER stay at this Hampton Inn...I suggest you do not either, particularly if you expect to be in the heart of Los Alamos. My choice now is the Comfort Suites, right on the main road, right near the labs...good customer service, clean rooms and breakfast.
Im sorry I've had to write this..i feel sorry for those people who run businesses that do not know the difference between good profits and bad profits...Good for you you got my 122.00 for the short term...I hope it lasts you a while.
