“Another Enjoyable Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This past weekend, my wife and I stayed at the Jacob Rohrbach Inn for the second time, this time for my wife's birthday. We had the General's Quarters, and, just like our first visit, everything was perfect. The room is immaculately clean (there isn't even a leaf or a cobweb on the porch), beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Joanne and Paul made us feel very welcome and made sure we were set for dinner reservations and travel directions. Breakfast was delicious. This is definitely one of our favorite bed and breakfasts. We'll be back again soon.

“A Most Excellent Anniversary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

My wife and I spent our 2 year anniversary at the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. We had to arrive late, after 9pm, but Paul was there to great us. Joann cooks a delicious breakfast every day. The pumpkin roll was the best. Joann and Pau go out of their way to make us feel welcome. They printed up for us on local attractions and had great recommendations for where to eat. Overall outstanding service!!!

Room Tip: Antietam room was very spacious and had a private balcony

“A welcome rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

My husband and I stayed overnight in the Clara Barton room while on our bike trip from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. JoAnn was very welcoming and let us use her hose to wash off our bike which she later locked in the garage. The towm of Sharpsburg wasvery quaint and we wished we had more time to explore it. Our next trip will allow for more time along the C & O trail for sightseeing. OUr room was comfortable, quite and beatuifully decorated. At breakfast the next morning JoAnn made sure everyone was introduced. The breakfast was wonderful with homemade apple tart, breads and quiche. It was the perfect start to another day of biking. The day turned out longer than we expected with no other food stops on the way, so we were very greatful for the large breakfast! I very much recommend this Inn. They are professional in everyway. We left felling we made a new friend.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We stayed at the Jacob Rohrbach Inn while bicycling on the C&O Canal trail. Joanne and Paul were wonderful hosts and made us feel quite at home. This is a bicycle-friendly place, and they helped us hose down our muddy bikes and store them in a locked garage. We were embarrassed about how muddy our panniers were, but they gave us towels to put underneath and didn't seem troubled at all. The Inn itself is a lovely place and breakfast was absolutely fantastic.

The roads around Sharpsburg are scenic and the farms are beautiful. I wish we had time to tour the Antietam battlefield. Unfortunately, we were cycling slowly because the trail was so muddy, so we'll have to do that another time.

Advice for bicyclists: It is worthwhile calling and asking Joanne or Paul about the easiest way to ride to Sharpsburg. It's a steep climb from the trail, and some roads are harder than others. There are no signs along the trail to indicate the way.

“Perfect getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

On arrival, we received a gracious and warm welcome from Joanne not as paying guests, but like friends.
The room was spacious, tastefully decorated/furnished, with all the amenities one gets in a large hotel. The bed was comfortable. There was even a refrigerator on the patio with cold water, which was welcome after a long drive.Joanne even volunteered to make dinner reservations for us.
The breakfast was a delightful experience served by our hosts. The food was great with lots to chose from. We sat together with the other guests and enjoyed the conversation. Joanna also kindly offered us some tomatoes from her garden. We hope to return at the next opportunity, given it is not a long drive from Washington.
