The people of this hotel are really great! The location of course is super, the rooms are perfect, but what makes this hotel (chain to my experience) special is the people. HR must do a great job in selecting and training staff.

This Ritz Carlton is probably one of my favorites because of the attentive staff and the impeccable way they maintain the rooms and the common areas. I rarely see a hotel with such high marks in that area. The other Ritz that gets the same high marks in this area is the Dallas location. Housekeeping at both of these properties must have a secret that should be shared with all hotels.

The San Francisco Ritz is located within a short walk of shopping and wonderful restaurants although after a long day of shopping you might want to opt for a cab back to the hotel is walking is an issue for you as the Ritz is atop a hill with a long approach that can be tough if you're tired. Both the Ritz and the Fairmont are at the top of a big hill so there is no escaping this if you want to stay at the better hotels.

The beds at the hotel are so comfortable that you will have a tough time getting going in the morning. There truly won't be one thing that the staff neglects as far as wants and needs. I stay on Club Level and this Club is possibly one of the largest in the Ritz chain. There are normally 3 Concierge at the Club desk so waiting is never an issue. The food service is top notch and the view from the Club is fabulous.

They will make a special occasion unforgettable if you make them aware of what you are celebrating. So whether you are in SF for business, a college visit, a shopping trip, or to visit the wine country, ask the staff for direction and they will make sure you have a trip that you will never forget!

Ritz Carlton properties are always of high quality -- which is what you expect of 5 star hotels at this price point. The hotel is quite nice - rooms are large & comfortable. The in-room coffee service is higher quality than most & I always appreciate when evening turndown service includes bottled water. The bathroom is ok, not great. Surprisingly, the comfortable chairs have no lighting so need to rely on light on bedside table or natural light during day (yes, I know this is a nitpick). In room safe is small. Hotel service is, as expected, very good. Staff is helpful and accomodating - & a lot of staff available to help. Gym is nice sized & well equipped. Being in Nob Hill - if choosing location for proximity to local sites, need to be aware of the hills. On the positive side, walking to/from the local attractions provides an opportunity to elevate the heart rate & burn off a few extra calories.

We stayed on the club level floor 8, which is a must in my opinion if you are staying at this hotel. Excellent service and complimentary food. Joseph the concierge was excellent and nothing was to much trouble. Including finding great tickets to the NFL playoff with only 24 hours notice and to all the top restaurants, despite most of New York being in the city for the game.

Much better service than the Fairmont just up the road and certainly the RC in New Orleans.

Slight issue with hot water on first night, but response immediate and professional as was the follow up and explanation by the engineer. All very polished.
