We went with another couple and had a great time. Great location with trolley access and went to the Warf several times. I got to see a ball game at ATT Park and went to some of the local Irish pubs...lots of fun except my Dodgers lost. I thought the rooms were nice and clean...and trust me for my wife to approve of a hotel is a big thing. You are in the shopping district so my wife was in heaven. Overall a great location and nice hotel. Perfect for a short vaction.

Every year at Christmas time my family tries to spend at least a weekend in San Francisco. The last two years we have stayed at the Donatello and it has become part of our family tradition. It is a combination of old world charm and modern conveniences. The location is ideal, within walking distance of charming restaurants, really rowdy bars and, of course, great shopping! We have a two-year old in the family now, and the accommodations were child friendly. We look forward to Christmas 2012!

This stay was at the end of our 3 and a half week holiday in the US, great way to finish our holiday. The Hotel staff were outstanding, extremely helpful in all areas. They made you feel welcome, which was lovely. Our room was on the 5th floor and faced the Marriott, we had no issues with noise. All facets of this stay were outstanding, I would recommend the Hotel to anyone staying in San Francisco. Very close to Union Square and Transport, not to mention walking distance to great shops, eating and entertainment. The distance to China Town and Fishermans Wharf was within easy walking distance.

I would definetly stay there again.

This hotel is between 3.5-4.0. The location is amazing - Union Square is great and close to everything. I got a room away from the street and could barely hear the street even with the window open. The hotel was very quiet too - I couldn't hear the neighbors at all, the occasional hallway noise was tolerable. The rooms are spacious, the bed is so comfortable. The fold out was so convienant and my friend said it was comfortable. The rooms had microwave, refridge and sink and dishes, etc. That was the best part. The hotel is nice, a bit dated and needs updating as well as a painting in all the rooms.
Be aware - the hotel is a timeshare so they will try to get you into a sales pitch. Just be prepared that this is not a Westin or JW Marriott - the staff is friendly but not...polished. Often they didn't have the directions or tips I was looking for, but Yelp was sufficient for my purposes. The parking is $30/night.
The restaurant is nice. The burger was so delicious, but the crab cakes were dry. The 15th floor has a club level with gym, sauna, free coffee, and outside deck with smoking area.
