This was our second visit to The Radisson at Fisherman's Wharf. We did not go back because the hotel itself is extraordinary - the rooms are tired, but are kept very clean. There can be some noise from adjoining rooms - but the exellent staff make this place. They have been extremely helpful during both our visits, polite, pleasant and they genuinely seem to care that you are enjoying yourself and that you have everything you need. We would urge visitors to make full use of the concierges as they can make getting around the city a breeze, save you time, and provide you with their personal recommendations for locations you may not know about. They will book restaurants for you happily-if you call from your room, even a local call, you will be charged for it, something that we naively weren't aware of. The location is pretty safe, unlike a lot of hotels around Union Square where you are often advised not to walk the streets at night. At the Wharf we never felt unsafe at any time of the day or night. It's not a pretty location; the awful tourist shops are everywhere but 5 minutes walk in either direction will have you on a very pleasant waterfront, and you have any number of cable cars, street cars and buses nearby to take you anywhere you want to go. The Ferry Building with it's numerous cafes and excellent eateries is approx 20 mins walk away from the hotel and well worth going to. Having said earlier that the hotel rooms are tired, it's only fair to add that the hotel is in the process of redecorating. We wouldn't hesitate to stay a third time.
