“The staff here make this place something special”

This was our second visit to The Radisson at Fisherman's Wharf. We did not go back because the hotel itself is extraordinary - the rooms are tired, but are kept very clean. There can be some noise from adjoining rooms - but the exellent staff make this place. They have been extremely helpful during both our visits, polite, pleasant and they genuinely seem to care that you are enjoying yourself and that you have everything you need. We would urge visitors to make full use of the concierges as they can make getting around the city a breeze, save you time, and provide you with their personal recommendations for locations you may not know about. They will book restaurants for you happily-if you call from your room, even a local call, you will be charged for it, something that we naively weren't aware of. The location is pretty safe, unlike a lot of hotels around Union Square where you are often advised not to walk the streets at night. At the Wharf we never felt unsafe at any time of the day or night. It's not a pretty location; the awful tourist shops are everywhere but 5 minutes walk in either direction will have you on a very pleasant waterfront, and you have any number of cable cars, street cars and buses nearby to take you anywhere you want to go. The Ferry Building with it's numerous cafes and excellent eateries is approx 20 mins walk away from the hotel and well worth going to. Having said earlier that the hotel rooms are tired, it's only fair to add that the hotel is in the process of redecorating. We wouldn't hesitate to stay a third time.

“Excellent location”

A few minutes from Fisherman's Wharf Pier and Pier 39 makes this Hotel a great spot to stay in San Francisco. The Open Top tour bus stops around the corner and the cable car stop is also nearby. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are dozens of places to eat nearby and if you do B and B you get vouchers for the diner next door. Coffee and pastries can be purchased and consumed in the lounge. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and had good coffee provided. There is a pool but we did not try it as it was December but there were kids in it so I guess it must be heated. The bed was very comfortable and the softmess could be adjusted on both sides.
The downside was the traffic noise in the night from the trams. I was told that all the windows are being upgraded which will help this problem. The rooms overlooking the pool will not have this problem.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms on the road side until the windows have been replaced.

Thanks for the wonderful comments about our location, team members, and facilities. We are looking at several options to better sound proof our rooms and hope to have this resolved by May 2012. We hope to see you again soon.

“Don't stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Picked this hotel because of the decent reviews but do not stay here. The hotel is a dump and I found a bed bug in my room. The hotel manager told me I was lying but I killed the bug and left it on the bed for them to see. In fact, I bet they will comment on this and try to deny it. Either way my room had bed bugs. They moved me to another room and let me cancel the rest of my stay. I moved to the holiday inn express which was much newer and cleaner. Stay at your own risk!

“Friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We booked a room for 5 adults fr a travel agent. In facts, it does not include extra bed for the 5th person. But the front desk staff was helpful enough to give us a FREE extra bed without any cost! (it will cost us usd50 per night if they do charge)
Location is great! Walking distance to cable car. Once you hop on to cable car, it is quite easy to get around the city of SFO.

“Nice hotel - ideally located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

This hotel is in a perfect location, spent one night here before I moved onto a works conference.

It is opposite Pier 39 and all of Fishermans Wharf.

Took 10 minutes in a cab to Union Square and Market Street. The only downside was that my room on 2nd floor had a view of a car park. That was a shame seen as some of the rooms have the Golden Gate and Fishermans Wharf as a view.

Location is certainly one of our strong points. While not all our rooms have bay views, we do have several premium view rooms to offer. For a little more in rate, the views of the San Francisco Bay are truly worth every penny! We hope you'll enjoy one of them on your next visit.
