the drisco was recommended to me by a colleague when i asked for a place to stay in pacific heights. he told me it was small and elegant and would have everything i needed for a short trip, and he was right. it's an old-school, charming place, upscale, with excellent service. more like a high-end b&b. the rooms are immaculate, comfortable and well equipped. the staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. there's no real room service but there is a wonderful breakfast served every morning, and the front desk offered an array of take-out menus when i expressed an interest in dinner after coming home late from a work event.
pacific heights is pretty, the hotel is walking distance from fillmore shopping and well located in general. i should say that lovely as it is, the drisco is very quiet and conservative, not to be compared to more lively, hipper boutique hotels.
