“A very nice motel for the money; helpful staff at check-in”

I have trouble understanding the negative critiques of this motel. To be sure, it wouldn't classify as 5-star. But for the money, relative to other motels and hotels in the Boston area, it seemed a good value. Even though the front desk area is not Taj Mahal, I found the person at the check-in desk very helpful, providing me with lots of information on site-seeing and use of the famous transit system, The T, that has a station located within walking distance. For the four days that I stayed there, my room was kept neat and clean. I had no complaints, and I am one to complain if there is anything to complain about. I can recommend this motel to anyone visiting the Boston area.

“A little dumpy, but the only "value" in the area...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

Nothing chic here! However, VERY fast, free wifi and basic accomodations for anyone simply needing a place to lay your head. I would highly recommend either bringing your own pillow or asking for extras.

“Don't go there!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

We check in and we discover that...
the non-smoking room was smelling cigarettes,
the roof in the bedroom was falling apart,
the bathroom was so dirty that I almost throw up (hair, red stain and much more),
and the bed was everything but clean.
We paid the cancellation rate and we go somewhere else!

“Only on a budget with a security detail”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2009

When you arrive to check in, you face an enclosed room with a plastic shield and slot for talking, ala bank teller. For our reception clerk, English seemed to be a distant second language. You begin to wonder whether you are on the right side of the barrier. Security may be an issue at this place, with evidence of deferred maintenance all around. We finally left, and came back to pay our bill the next day. Just too much worry over security, especially when other guests seemed to pay a little to much attention to our car. I think the owners are trying to offer decent value, but stay here only if you must.

“So bad it's a joke”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2009

I'm a frequent backpacker, and I've been all over Europe and the USA, mostly staying in the cheapest places I can find. This takes the award for the second-worst place I have ever been in. And I've shared rooms with dozens of strangers before.

We were forced to book it when trying to find somewhere to stay in Boston, because everywhere was full up. When we arrived, a greasy fat man in a stained t-shirt took money from us and gave us our room key.

Like most other people report, the room was filthy, stained carpets smelled bad, serious cigarette burns all over the bed (in a non-smoking room). The door didn't fit well, so we could hear outside clearly, even over the insanely loud fridge oddly left in the corner of the room.

Breakfast was a joke. Some stale bagels and coffee in a plastic cup.

Wireless internet worked great, though! Just enough to find a space in a youth hostel in Boston for the next night.

Oh yeh, and the rate was higher than advertised. I paid 25% deposit through Expedia, but they refused to acknowledge this, demanding the full rate.

  • Liked — Internet Access!
  • Disliked — Smelly, burned bed.
