After reading some negative reviews of this hotel I was a bit hesitant about making reservations but i'm so glad I did. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to exerience nothing but POSiTIVES during our 5 day stay here. We stayed in the main building so I can't really comment on the other buiding's facilities. Our room was located on the third floor. We had a gorgeous view of Frenchmen's Bay from a roomy terrace. The room itself was large with one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen. Our beds were comfortable and our room was clean and beds made every day with a new supply of towels when we returned from our activities in the afternoon. A big plus for us was the indoor pool and hot tub. After hiking all day in Acadia taking a quick swim and soaking in a hot tub was a great luxury. On the last day of our stay we ate at the breakfast buffet which had plenty to choose from - hot entrees, cereal, pastries and fruit. Breakfast was not included in our stay but certainly worth the price we paid. Lastly the staff at this hotel was very helpful, providing us with information and directions whenever we needed them.

I booked 3 rooms oceanside for my family and my sister's. The harbor views were very nice, and I especially enjoyed having coffee and light breakfast on the balcony early in the morning while watching the soft waves. The hotel staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Each of our rooms came with a mini refrigerator and coffee unit. My sister and her husband were in a room with a king bed, and had plenty of extra space. My husband and I, our teenage daugher and our toddler son with his portabe crib shared a second room with 2 queen beds. Even then, there was plenty of space. (Our 3 pre-teen girls shared a third room with 2 queen beds.) The downside was not enough counter space and the thin walls. On the first night, I needed to sleep early, but was kept awake by the shower going in the next room. My sister mentioned the noisy shower going in the room above hers.

My husband and I spent our first anniversary here in the month of October, 2006. First of all, please do not trust the pictures that you see on the Hotel's website. The Hotel did not look anything like the pictures. I should have realized this when their own website did not offer any close ups of the property.

Check-in went very well. The front desk staff was very courteous and friendly. When we were shown to our room however, I was a little disappointed. The room looked extremely shabby and in need of repair. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom was terribly small. The walls were paper thin and we could hear our neightbors talking. However, the room did come with a balcony that looked out over the water, and that was nice.

We thought that the breakfast was included with the price of the room, but it was not. This turned out to be a good thing because we were able to eat at a local restaurant named Jordan's that was great.

The entire property just looked tired. That is the only adjective that I can use to describe it. We thought about checking out early and going somewhere else, but we just decided to deal with it since we were hardly in the room. It didn't help things that on our final night we had to change rooms at 1:00 in the morning due to a domestic dispute that took place next door.

I read other trip advisor reports and since some were positive about the facility, I decided to give it a try. Overall, I would not stay here again and would DEFINITELY not encourage anyone else to stay there either.

This hotel had everything we were looking for in our trip to Bar Harbor. It had close proximity to the village of Bar Harbor as well as to Acadia. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the main building, which was big enough for my wife and I and our four young kids and which had a deck providing a beautiful view of the bay. It had an outdoor pool and a sizeable indoor pool, which the kids loved and which was important when it rained. And the room rate was reasonable. I don't understand others complaining about the web site exaggerating the look of the place - is there a hotel on Earth that doesn't try to put as pleasant a picture of itself as possible on it's website or in it's brochures?
