This hotel had everything we were looking for in our trip to Bar Harbor. It had close proximity to the village of Bar Harbor as well as to Acadia. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the main building, which was big enough for my wife and I and our four young kids and which had a deck providing a beautiful view of the bay. It had an outdoor pool and a sizeable indoor pool, which the kids loved and which was important when it rained. And the room rate was reasonable. I don't understand others complaining about the web site exaggerating the look of the place - is there a hotel on Earth that doesn't try to put as pleasant a picture of itself as possible on it's website or in it's brochures?

“Love this quiet, oceanside hotel”

I noticed you don't have this hotel on your site and you are missing out. I stayed there for a reunion a few years ago and they put on a wonderful dinner and then I went back last summer and stayed in a beautiful hotel room right on the ocean with the most incredible views. They served breakfast inside and on the terrace over looking the ocean. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms were pristine. I would highly recommend this hotel. They also have a bed and breakfast on the property that is in this incredible mansion overlooking the ocean. You missed the boat not listing this resort.

“Great Views”

What great views from the rooms ! The ocean with the ferry boats coming and going from Nova Scotia made the Atlantic Oakes a memorable stay for us. The rooms were also very spacious, clean, with nice large bathrooms. It was nice just to sit on the balcony, sip on a drink, and enjoy the view after a long day exploring Acadia National Park. Also, the free brakfast buffet was top notch!
