Atlantic Oakes was exactly what I needed during a quick overnight jaunt to Bar Harbor. While I did not utilize any of its dining facilities, I was impressed by my room and the amenities provided. I had a stunning view of the water, which periodically was dotted with sailboats.

The bedding at AO was outstanding!! I loved their sheets and spare blanket to get extra cozy during the cooler early June evening. The pillows were supportive and exactly what I HOPE to find in hotel bedding but rarely ever experience. The bathroom was clean and spacious with great travel bottles of natural bathing products.

Did I mention the enormous leather chair and ottoman? This was the highlight of my stay after a long, tedious flight!

We loved the view from our room and the staff was friendly, but the hotel was in need of a serious face lift. The decor and furniture were dated. You also shared a balcony with the room next to you.

My husband and I recently spent two nights at Atlantic Oakes' "the Willows". From start to finish, our stay was extraordinary. Upon arrival, the desk clerk acted positively delighted that we had arrived, and gave us all the info about our room and the property that we could ever need.
Our room at the Willows (#813, I think) was fabulous. It had it's own private stone patio overlooking the water - very peaceful! Additionally, we slept beautifully as the room had been refurbished in the last year and the new mattress and pillows were amazing.
The entire staff was wonderful and we were particularly impressed with the assistant GM, who took time to visit with us and help with some info we needed.

After reading some negative reviews of this hotel I was a bit hesitant about making reservations but i'm so glad I did. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to exerience nothing but POSiTIVES during our 5 day stay here. We stayed in the main building so I can't really comment on the other buiding's facilities. Our room was located on the third floor. We had a gorgeous view of Frenchmen's Bay from a roomy terrace. The room itself was large with one of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen. Our beds were comfortable and our room was clean and beds made every day with a new supply of towels when we returned from our activities in the afternoon. A big plus for us was the indoor pool and hot tub. After hiking all day in Acadia taking a quick swim and soaking in a hot tub was a great luxury. On the last day of our stay we ate at the breakfast buffet which had plenty to choose from - hot entrees, cereal, pastries and fruit. Breakfast was not included in our stay but certainly worth the price we paid. Lastly the staff at this hotel was very helpful, providing us with information and directions whenever we needed them.
