Looked at the on line pictures which must be doctored up. Didn't pay much for the room and didn't get much. Room and bathroom in poor condition and in need of repair. Smelled and service at front desk poor. Next time I will read the reviews and not rely on pictures and written word of the motel.

I stayed in the Penthouse at the Sea Breeze with my husband this August. This is one very large room with a full kitchen, living and dining area, and bed, with an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking Frenchman's Bay. Every morning, I got up to watch the sunrise--a brilliant orange sky, streaked with purple clouds. If you're lucky, you can catch a moonrise over the water from there as well. It was absolutely phenomenal. A great place to stay for a couple days because of the kitchen facilities (restaurants in town are super expensive, so it's nice to have the option of cooking). It was a home away from home. If you have kids, there was plenty of room to set up cots near the sitting area. The motel is set far back from the road, behind thick woods, so you really feel like you're not in the hubbub--a great way to experience an island known for its natural beauty. Other reviews mentioned the hotel has not been renovated recently. This is true--it is a family-run place, and not fancy, but the corporately-owned inns in Bar Harbor are mostly ridiculously expensive or extremely bland. I'd much rather stay somewhere with a fantastic setting and a bit of character. Great pool, nice big yard for playing ball, friendly guests gathered on the deck sharing the WiFi. Great atmosphere overall.

Set off busy Rt 3 this is a quiet place with a terrific view and a pool overlooking the bay. The room was simple, harking back to the days of "motoring vacations" and while not luxurious, were clean and comfortable. The front desk staff accommodated our late arrival and were kind and friendly when we checked out. They seemed genuinely eager to please guests, and so I hope my family's experience is typical of their efforts. Seems like our stay represented an improvement over that of many reviewers here.

I think the owners believe they just have to catch lost tourists to make money. Management was absent, premises were poorly maintained. Room was barely clean enough not to flee. Be careful with online reservations: they accept reservations for rooms that are not available. Once there, we were told somebody had reserved the same room at the same time than us, and offered a much less interesting room. I checked later on the website, and our room was still available... probably to catch the next party... Try somewhere else...
