“Very noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Looking at the website you would not expect it to be on the main road into Bar Harbor.
We had a room at the far end on the right on the 2nd floor.
The door was very hard to open. You had to sort of throw you whole body against the door to open it.
The room itself was fine if the rate would have been around $70, but at $115 is was a bit of a dissapointment. It had these kind of shutter windows, so you can not fully close the windows. Which means you hear everything from outside. As it is more of a motel kind of hotel it is very noisy with people walking past the rooms, cars with engines running and the worst was that near the end there is this depot of housekeeping. so at 6.30am you can hear the trucks getting or dropping towels, sheets etc. Very annoyoing.
Earplugs do help

Best part of the room as the shower. Best shower we had on our trip till then. Bathroom itself was a bit shabby. needed some work.

Breakfast was good, about 10 different cereals, bagels, bread, muffins, fresh fruit etc.
bit small breakfast room though. only 6 tables.

All in all the hotel isn't too bad but it is just too expensive. It is quite close to Bar Harbor but you still have to take the car so you can just as well get a motel a bit further away for about $60
And Ocean View?? well we had to try really hard to see the ocean :-)

“Early Morning Highway Noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

The rooms have exterior doors. The rooms, though small, included WiFi, were comfortable and clean. The bed was OK. The only problem we had was the traffic noise from the road which starts about 5:30 a.m. They have a nice little breakfast - rolls, muffins, breads, but it is a very small breakfast room, which was full and we had to take our food back to the room. The one good point is that it is only about a mile to Acadia National Park.

Room Tip: The rooms in the back should have less highway noise

“would not recommend at all”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

First the hotel staff was friendly and the bed comfortable enough but that is all that was okay. The hotel is older, definitely needs updating, and a good cleaning. The room was small and there was a very strong, unpleasant odor that never left. The bathroom was unbelievable!! The toilet was so close to the sink that you could not use the sink at all. We had to shave and do our hair with the mirror in the main room. The breakfast was extremely light and with only maybe four or six small tables we took our toast and went back to our room. For $100.00 a night I would have expected better.

“Ok but the door stuck.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel. It is a standard motel in a high tourist area, a little old, but clean and fit our needs. We had two problems here, one large and one small. The small problem was the size of their breakfast area, it was so small that you either had to wait for a table, take a tray to your room, or go out to a cafe. The second problem was large, the door to our unit stuck, it was so bad that on our second day we could not get back into the room and had to get help from the front desk to get back in. Good for security I guess, but not good for much else.

Room Tip: Be certain that your front unit door works before you check in and there is a nice breakfast place a...

“not unless absolutely necessary”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Oct 2011
We've stayed at Holiday Inn across the street (using up my hotel points) and regretfully they could not accommodate us for one day in the middle of week.
So… we stayed at the Days Inn for one night. Cost about $110 which included free WiFi (decent speed) and continental breakfast. Those ‘inclusions” were the only highlights. Hotel room was worn out, probably not updated since the 70’s (although did have cable and a color TV). It reminded me of my HS days when a bunch of us would rent a room for a week at the shore; “as long as it has a floor to sleep” was the motto :)
Not very clean; dust bunnies under bed and glass stains from previous travelers on night table (took a few wipes to clean off). The ceiling above bathtub had, what looked like, some mold spots (I am no inspector, so not 100% certain).
Surprisingly, the hotel’s parking lot was packed every night we stayed in Bar Harbor. Maybe all other rooms were much better?
Check is at 14:00, check out at 12:00. Some rooms accept pets (I heard). The lobby staff was friendly. A few minute drive to town center and Acadia Park.
Also, when you stay at this hotel, you can go cross the street and enjoy Holiday Inn's outdoor pool and hot tub. Free of charge, just present them with your Days Inn card room.
