Wonderful staff and management at the hotel. Every night there is local music at the poolside bar. Musicians play from local Hawaiian music, country and western, blues and a bit of rock and roll. They only play from 6-8pm, 9 pm at the latest so it doesn't bother those who want to sleep. Each night is different band.
Molokai is an island for relaxing and sight seeing. There is very little night life but after a day in the sun, there isn't much energy left after watching the sunset. The front desk can arrange tours, hikes, whale watching and snorkelling. The only downside is the beach at the hotel which is not suitable for swimming as it is very shallow and becomes very narrow when the tide is in. You can watch whales jumping just beyond the barrier reef while having a cool drink at the bar. Very friendly crowd of locals and visitors. Michael the manager is always available to help out.
Rooms are dated but adequate. They have a small kitchenette (2 burners, microwave, coffee maker and small frig). There is a small resort fee ($2.50 per day) but it covers all phone calls (to mainland and local) and wireless internet. They gave us a small gift (thermos) which they filled each morning from the hotel restaurant if needed at no charge. The hotel supplies ear plugs to offset the sound of roosters crowing in the morning. We didn't use them and it was nice to get an early start. The rooms have AC and fans but we only used the fans. Grounds are well kept and a number of hammocks available for snoozing and reading.
Overall a nice relaxing place for couples and friends not recommended for the action crowd.
