“beautiful Resort”

We stayed there from jan 28-feb 8 2012
This resort is a very beautiful, clean resort.
We were there for our wedding/ honeymoon. We did not get married at the resort but spent most of our time at the resort.
We loved our studio room. It came with everything we needed. Our lanai was the best. The doors open right up so it was nice and relaxing there. We had a partial ocean view on the third floor and we could sit out there and watch whales. We had no issues with wind at all on our lanai. The mornings were great to sit out there for a nice cup of coffee.
The beach at times was windy but it is on a ocean so it is expected. Right out front of the resort there is a coral reef so bring fins or water shoes for snorkeling. If you walk just south it is much better.
The duke's restaurant is great. Good service and great food. Make reservations for dinner because it does book up quite fast.
There is a very nice beach walk that takes you to black rock. You have to make a detour through the Sheraton and then the beach walk continues to Whalers Village. There is a few restaurants there and quite a few shops. We did our shopping in Lahaina which is very nice.
I will definitely go back to this resort. It was very very relaxing. The bed was comfy. The room was very sound proof( we didn't hear anyone) the air conditioner was so quiet as well.
We had no problems with kids running around. It was nice seeing the kids there having so much fun. There was just the two us and found it very peaceful. Great place for everyone.

“Exceeded our Expectations in Every Way”

We loved everything about Honua Kai from the moment we arrived. Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the front desk to the valet to the concierge where we booked some tours.

Our 2-bedroom unit was beyond what we were expecting. I couldn’t get over the size...it was huge. The furniture was all modern and very nice. I loved the granite counter tops and the stainless steel Bosch appliances. I also appreciated having a washer and dryer for bathing suits and t-shirts.

The kitchen was very well appointed with nice dishes and cutlery and it had everything we needed including corkscrew, chopping knifes, etc. The beds were very comfortable with good quality linens. I also really liked the living room glass doors that open up completely onto the lanai creating a wonderful indoor/outdoor space.

The pool area was gorgeous...an aquatic playground for sure!!! Several pools and really well designed with lots of little private areas to enjoy. The beach was gorgeous, great for swimming and also some very good snorkelling.

We did go to Duke’s Beach House restaurant on site which was excellent each time. The seafood risotto was delicious as was the HULA PIE that our table shared.

The only complaint I have is that we didn’t book a longer stay. 5 days was not long enough and next time it will be longer. Honua Kai is really a wonderful place and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Maui vacation that has it all.

“Wonderful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This place is really nice! It has great pool areas, access to the beach and Dukes is on the property, which is a great place to eat (Happy hour is perfect for lunch). I don't know about the other rooms but our condo was excellent. It was very clean, had a comfy bed, great decor, nice tv and a wrap around lanai that was beautiful. We wished we would've spent our entire 2 week vacation there. We also went through Harris Properties to get the location and Jennifer was the person who helped us...she was great as well. It is definitely a little pricey but the place was so comfortable and nice, it was worth every penny. Not to mention it had a great full kitchen and everything was up to date. Staff was very nice too.

Room Tip: If you can get an ocean view, you won't regret it!

“great stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

we traveled here 1/29-2/5 with another couple. Condo was great - we booked a 2 bedroom ocean view through the resort, plenty of room for 2 couples, nice kitchen (though the lack of a garbage disposal was surprising). We were in Konea tower 739- on the interior with one of L-shaped lanai's, which was wonderful for watching the ocean (and the whales). We spent a lot of time just sitting out there enjoying the view. Having the full kitchen was great since we could eat there a lot and enjoy the view. Definitely glad we paid the $$ for oceanview. The L shaped lanai also had the benefit of being able to find shade any time of day while sitting out there.

I was worried about the wind after reading the other reviews on here, that may just be luck on when you go, but the wind was not an issue for us - never noticed it on the lanai. The beach was breezy all the time, but nice. Weather was perfect while we were there - 80 and sunny every day

kids - quite a few kids here, but it didn't bother me. we have 2 under 5 at home so maybe I'm just used to the noise?? being up on the 7th floor, we didn't really hear them outside (and the sound proofing in the condos is great - I never heard noise from another room when we were inside, even though the place was pretty full). we didn't spend much time the pool area, so that may have helped also. The pool closest in to the Konea tower usually seemed pretty kid-free when we walked by.

the beach - we had great snorkeling just south of the resort one day, and then 2 days later the water was too cloudy with sand to see anything. It is rocky right off shore with a pretty steep dropoff, but still nice for walking along the edge in the water. We walked down to black rock a few times as well.

Ate at Duke's twice and was impressed - very good food and a spectacular location.

the resort fee kind of sucks, but the wireless connection was very good for us, indoors and out.

“Wonderful fun in the sun”

This is a beautiful resort, probably the nicest place I've stayed. Our room had all the amenities you could wish for, the decor was lovely and the view was spectacular. I agree with the other reviewers, it would be nice for an "adults" only section. The resort is very family friendly, and there were kids everywhere. Finding a quiet spot for sunbathing, book reading, cocktail sipping and quick dips was challenging. Although beautiful, the pools were 4 feet at the deepest, with the majority of the area 3-3.5 feet, not a great swim for grown folks.
