“The Most luxurious hotel I have ever seen!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed at the grand Hyatt for our honeymoon and we could not have picked a better place. We were disappointed with our room when we first checked in but after calling down to the front desk we got what we wanted. Our room was very large with a nice big bathroom. The hotel staff put a bottle of champagne and some coupons in our room which was a very nice touch (the one free cabana was the best) our room was on the first floor and we could walk out to a nice grass area that was steps away from the water. We felt so safe that we even slept with the door open so we could here the ocean (screen door locked of course) I recommend that you enjoy the Mai tai at the bar they call it a tai chi.. Its soo good I wish I could find out the ingredients!! Check out stevensons library for sushi night it was amazing. The other restaurants were really expensive but good food.. I recommend you go into koloa town and try the koloa fish market the Korean poke is awesome also the koloa deli is to die for. This hotel is amazing enjoy!

“A magical place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My family and I just returned from our third stay at the Grand Hyatt Resort on Kauai. The worst part about staying there is that inevitably, one must leave. I really love the Grand Hyatt. The staff are friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. The valet crew always are ready to provide towels and bottled water as you depart for an adventure, and then greet you with a warm "aloha!" upon return. The hotel grounds are a wonderland of tropical flora, immaculately maintained. The grass throughout the resort is the consistency of PGA golf green. Acres of recreational grounds are available above the beach, including a very large salt water lagoon, and wandering streams, waterfalls, a lazy river, and a waterslide. The lobby is stunning. It's a perfect place for children. The spa is gorgeous as well - replete with outdoor lava rock showers. We attended the Thursday night luau, and highly enjoyed it - sure, it was slightly kitchsy...in an "old Honolulu" sort of way...and that's exactly what we expected and wanted. The breakfast buffet is well presented and very satisfying. We also had wonderful meals at the two main restaurants, Tidepools and Dondero's. The day of our departure, we weren't scheduled to fly out until 9:40 PM. Typically, check out is at noon. For $150.00 you can keep your room for the day. This is extremely nice, as it provides you a place to clean up prior to your flight. We couldn't keep our room as it was scheduled to have a new party check in, so the front desk staff moved us to a new room for the day. When we returned from the beach, our luggage was waiting for us...now that's nice service. Yes, it's expensive overall to stay here, but this is one case where I believe you truly get what you pay for!

Room Tip: Hard to pick a bad one. The ocean-view rooms are stunning, but partial ocean view rooms are nearly...

“One of the most beautiful places I've ever been!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I'm going to keep this review short and sweet because this place is just absolutely beautiful and you have to see it to believe it.

My wife and I spent two weeks in Hawaii and ended our trip with 5 days in Kauai at the Hyatt. This place is just stunning. The Main lobby looks like a scene from a painting with its gorgeous views of the ocean. The pool is fantastic with its maze of lazy rivers and great lagoon area. The rooms are beautiful, the shops are great and the restaurants all through out are all top notch.

This place really has it all, If I ever return to Hawaii there is no doubt were we will be staying.

My dream is to return to this paradise one day!

“Absolutely beautiful”

We just returned from a 5 day stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and I have to say it's the most beautiful resort I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival we were upgraded to an ocean front room (6141) and the view was breath-taking. It was a bit of a walk to the lobby and about the furthest you could get from the spa and gym, but the view was so well worth it. It was very quiet when sitting out on the balcony and the view was amazing. A large portion of the rooms face the grounds/parking lot area, and others face the pool area which I can imagine might get loud if you spend a lot of time in your room or have a napping child to worry about. If you don't like to do a lot of walking, then the ocean front rooms at the end of the resort might not be for you. The resort is HUGE.

We loved the pools, and the man made lagoon although the "sand" is quite rough. The lagoon went down and around the bend, around rocks and plants. It was beautiful. The pools were amazing and the lazy river was nice too and moved very slowly. They didn't have floats to use, you had to buy them. I bought one for my 5 year old, and just walked along with him. I think it would be nice if they had them free for use or if you could rent them and return them later.

The restaurants had top notch food. We were very impressed. The food was expensive but not over the top considering the price of food is quite high in Hawaii for the most part. One night we ordered room service since we got home late from a hike and didn't have the time to get ready to eat out. Everything about it was also top notch. They set up the table as if we were at one of their fancy restaurants. Loved it.

The resort is maybe 25 minutes from the airport, so we got a car and were able to explore the rest of the island. I'm not sure what a taxi would have cost to get there and back, but they rent cars right from the resort. I saw about 5 rental cars on the premises and thought that would have been a great idea. This was our first trip to Kauai, so we wanted to see the North Shore and the Wiamea Canyon, but if I was to return I might just skip having a car and enjoy relaxing at the resort and maybe rent a car for one day.

What a spectacular hotel. If you are ready for the garden island and a less touristy spot then this is the hotel for you. We were there for a dance competition and were very happy with the amenities. The ballrooms are gorgeous. The hotel itself is open air ANC has a lot of cute shops. Tropical birds are regularly seen during the day. After u walk through the lobby there is a coffee shop and a staging area where they have nightly entertainment. Did not experience this part but heard good things. The sea view terrace was incredible. What a gorgeous view. Rooms were spacious but I don't remember a tub in the room. Thought that was odd. Front desk staff and bell staff are superb. Ask for an ocean view you won't be disappointed. The pool is amazing. Most beautiful pool I've ever been in. It's very tropical and like a lazy river. There is also a salt water pool and a larger sport pool towards the beach. The first time I've ever been to a resort with hot hot tubs. No like warm tubs for kauai! Bonus points! The beach is ok but all the beaches are rocky. I liked the change from just straight sandy beaches to a more rocky beach. Buy swim shoes before u go bc the coral is everywhere and waves r rough. I did not attempt that but if I had I would definitely have wanted water shoes. The cliffs to the left are amazing. Climb them, its a novice hike. The view is beautiful. Only disappointment was that sunset could not be seen from resort but didn't try different angles to know. There is a little known beach just to the right of the resort about ten minutes by car. Ask the concierge and then go early. Prettiest beach in poipu. They close at 6. Definitely recommend seeing poipu beach for monk seal and sea turtle sightings. If u have kids there is a good area for safe swimming that is protected there. It's five minutes to the left leaving the resort. There is also a really nice shopping center that has cute shops and great ice cream! Also the most amazing experience was the Nepali cruise. Definetly go!!! U won't be sorry. If u have time visit the north shore by foot on a hiking trip, couldnt do that due to time constraints, but heard it was majestic. Make a trip to see the waterfalls and Kilauea lighthouse. Amazing view from there! All in all I'd give it 4 and a half stars, but it really deserves 5 if not for the travel time it def would be!! Have fun! I would def go back!
