“Kauai Beach Villas Unit G6”

Our condo helped make our 3 week sojourn in Kauai a perfect one! The location was great: on the east shore so it was a midway point between the south and north shores; Safeway and Walmart are conveniently nearby; the east shore gets lovely tradewinds so the temperatures were always comfortable - we never turned on the airconditioning. It was also a very quiet location. Our condo was on the 3rd floor so we had a great view down the coastline with mountains in the background. All the pictures on their website are accurate.

The condo met our needs perfectly. The kitchen was well provisioned with cooking utensils. There are outdoor grills that are positioned throughout the grounds. They are maintained daily and always in working order. We found the condo to be very clean, nicely furnished and just the right size for the two of us.

Without question we would stay there again.

“The Best Way to See Kauai”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

This place was great. Of course, you're going to be disappointed if you're expecting the Hilton, but if you know that you're walking into an extended stay condo, then you'll be just fine. It's conveniently located right on the main road. 5 mins from the airport but very quiet. Very limited beach view units, but its only a 4 minute walk to the water. Its not suitable to swim or snorkel in...much too choppy and big surf with some coral, but great to layout and walk on. The pool and spa are clean, if not small and simple. Probably need some renovation. Onsite BBQ's (nice Webers) make it great to cook on - especially with Foodland, Walmart and Costco all 10 mins away. Parking is easy. The staff were pleasant and willing to drop off extras to the room. They were also helpful in choosing excursions based on budget. Now the main part - the room. The unit was very clean. It needed a little updated, but wasn't old or scummy, just a little cheesy Hawaiian floral print on rattan couches and chairs. The kitchen was stoked with basic utensils, pots pans and dishes including crockery. Dishwasher was a nice touch. No A/C in the living room, but with doors/windows open and fans on we were fine. In-wall AC's in the bedrooms kept them very comfortable. The beds were comfy - not high end, but not bad. Rooms were very sizeable as was the bathroom. Shower was a bit small and needed some updating, but it was clean.

Landscaping was pleasant, even with the ever-present Kauai roosters. They weren't too loud as some say they were. Swans and ducks were entertaining too as the property has several duck ponds. It was a nice touch to be able to walk to the hotel next door and get a drink in their lounge with live music.

If you're expecting a luxury hotel you'll be disappointed, but if you want a comfortable condo to save a little bit of money and live like you're at home, this is the way to go. You can't beat lounging in the living room with friends after cooking dinner rather than sitting on your bed in a hotel room after spending 150 bucks on dinner.

“great”

We just returned from a weeks stay at the Kauai Beach Villas. I was a little concerned after reading some of the other reviews, but I must say we were pleasantly surprised. Our stay overall was great! First of all, it is less than 10min from the airport, which is awesome after a long flight. Check in is at 4pm, but our unit was ready by 3:30. I was kind of disappointed to find out we were in building A. It's the farthest way from the beach. But, it turned out to be just fine. Our unit was A-3, a nicely decorated, newer, one bedroom with two full size bathrooms, full kitchen with all new appliances, and nice size lani on the second floor. It overlooked the courtyard and back of the pool area. The grounds are beautiful with lots of birds, ducks, swans, and of course roosters! And yes, you hear them at all hours! There is only AC in the bedroom. It is a new window unit with remote control! We just kept the BR door closed and it stayed nice and cool. We had a comfortable King bed and had no trouble sleeping. It turned out to be very windy the week we were on the island, so actually people in the buildings closer to the ocean were complaining about the difficulties keeping the doors open and using the lani. There are new Webber gas grills located around the pool. We used them one night with no trouble.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. Guest services are more than happy to help you plan and sign up for activities. We were offered once to attend a timeshare sales talk and tour of properties, but there was NO pressure to attend. We choose to use the pools next door at the Hotel property. It is very nice and tropical with a Bar! Happy Hour is at 4:00pm! The front desk will tell you there is a $15.00 dollar fee for up to 4 people since you are staying in the villas BUT (based on the advice of other reviews) we just walked in, got two towels and were never bothered for the entire week. We paid plenty for poolside bar and food service to make up for it. ;) The pools were never crowded.
The location is perfect to visit the island. We rented a jeep. There is a lot of traffic at times, so it takes longer than you would think to get to where you are going, which makes the central location great. The grocery stores (Safeway & Foodland) are close, but very expensive! Make sure you sign up for their "member card" at customer service or when you are in the check out lane. It will save you $$$! Also, the Wal-mart is not a Super store. Overall, we really enjoyed Kauai. I have been to the Big Island and Oahu and I must say, this island is my favorite! We would have NO problems staying at Kauai Beach Villas again. Our experience was "great"

“Time share woes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2010

Something should really be done about the time share industry. We own one in Canada and often trade it for other resorts. Then when you get there they try to sell you theirs. One such place, Wyndham Kaua’i Beach Villas, just outside Lihu’e, give us a nice one bedroom suite complete with full kitchen etc. It was good and the staff were good too. They of course wanted us to trade ours for a purchase of theirs. Now here is the deal. When a guest comes to my home, we give them a good room and try to impress them with comfort etc. Not a time share. They smooth talk but fail to deliver. Our suit was over the garbage bin. So twice a week the truck came early to do the pickup. Noisy. I spoke to the staff and said you have other empty suites here and put us in this one and then try to get us to purchase. Wow, that is a great sales pitch. They didn’t move us, gave us a n excuse about them being on reserve for others. Ok. Thanks for letting me be your valued guest.
So hey anyone want to buy a good timeshare property in Canada, you can even get picked up at the airport by me as your personal chafer and spend your first evening in our home. We will even move the garbage pail from the kitchen into your room with you! Then there is a nice drive out to the property in my old pickup truck.

“Very Nice - And I Consider Myself "Picky"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

My wife and I spent a week here in November, celebrating our 20th anniversary. I will admit that after reading some of these reviews and wasn't sure what I was expecting but we were gifted the accomodations and were basically grateful just to be in Hawaii. After several months back I just dropped by TA and read some more reviews so I thought it was time I added my 2 cents. First, there are roosters but they are not "everywhere". You might see them anywhere but it is not like you wake up to finf 20 of them sitting on your car or porch. I thought they were great. My gosh, if that bothers you then spend your vacation in a concrete jungle somewhere. Next, yes the swimming pool is small but it is big enough to take your young children, or for older folks to get some sun. The property will advise you this in person when you check in make available the swimming facilities at their other property if you need to swim in a concrete pool. We were there in November. The property grounds were emmaculate and every day maintenece crew was obvious, keeping the place tidy. The beach, as mentioned, is not a swimming beach but nice to walk on. Recent storms left a lot of trash but it was all moved over to one end. Very beautiful. Like others have mentioned, we requested ocean front but got a unit where we could just see a slice of the ocean from our patio but we could see the mountains. Again, it is what it is. Big deal. It was beautiful. The unit itself was spotless. The window unit A/C in the bedroom looked brand new and kept the entire unit cool so no complaints there. As for people that complain about the outside appearence, I also went there expecting a run down place but not until the very end did I even notice that some of the air conditioning shells (I don't know what you call them-the external things that enclosures that cover the A/C - were rusty but they seemed to be behind palm trees and the such and if you are focusing on that instead of the island beauty- whatever. I travel frequently as part of my job and stay in decent hotels and I can skimp on air and rental cars and stuff but I don't like junky accomodations and I can honestly say this was very nice. The only downfall was that the wireless was a little flaky but I didn't go to Hawaii to surf the web. The staff was great and I would without doubt gladly stay here again.
