Just checked out and couldn't wait. Our bed smelled so badly of urine we couldn't sleep in it. The other bed had the AC unit next to it that sounded like a jet engine. Then the roosters started their symphony around 4:30 am. The one best thing was the darling lady who checked us in and gave us the ocean view room. While that was very sweet of her we were disappointed the windows were so dirty it was hard to enjoy the view. I'm sorry to give this bad review but the hotel needs to remodeled, renovated and upgraded do do justice to it's wonderful location.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel. We truly apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you during your stay at our resort.
Our Executive Housekeeper will be conducting a quality check of beddings, linens and cleanliness to insure that this problem does not repeat itself. We have replaced the ac blower in the unit and the loud noise is no longer there just cold cool air.

We are keenly aware of the population of roosters on the entire Island, and take an active role in the Wailua area to partner with the County of Kauai, the Humane Society and the Visitor’s Bureau in order to humanely manage the Island population. We can assure you that the number of birds in the Wailua area is no higher than the average number in each visitor destination area.

We are glad you enjoyed your beautiful ocean view room and the Warm Aloha Spirit from our staff. If you are ever here again on the beautiful island of Kauai we would appreciate the opportunity to serve you again.

“Wish I had read the reviews!”

People - this hotel is a good price but read between the lines of even the good reviews!!! The hotel lobby and grounds are great - but that is as far as it goes!! Not only are the rooms in desperate need of renovating but they are not CLEAN!!! We had to pre-pay for the two rooms we reserved or we would have left! The first two rooms we were given were dirty, musty, below standard bedding and furnishings and one of the rooms had RAT droppings down the middle of the room on the carpet!!! Another review talked about bugs - yep! We were given two different rooms which were just a little bit better - but I think from now reading the reviews - every room is in disrepair - nothing works...doors, safe, etc. Holes and stains in blankets and sheets! Damp smells - and you get a free wake up call every morning from the local roosters at 5am!!! No internet in rooms only in the lobby area! And that amenity fee is a JOKE!!! Those things are included even in the cheapest hotels!!! We do not have to stay in expensive hotels but we do expect cleanliness and no bugs or droppings for any price!!! I have informed AAA and have written Aston Hotels, Inc regarding our experiences and would not want anyone else to be disappointed in these accommodations without first being informed! Again - please read between the lines on all of the reviews - everyone is saying the same thing!

Room Tip: I don't think there are any refurbished, clean rooms???

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel. We are glad that you found our hotels location, service, grounds and open lobby area enjoyable. We have already set plans forward for upgrades in 2012 and have currently completed repairs to our AC units, pool deck, swimming pool, and elevators.
I have noted your comment about the condition of the linen in your room and will represent your concern in the best possible manner with our owners and seek their approval to increase our monthly replacement linen expense so we can avoid such problems in early 2012.

We do have an Amenity Fee that provides our guest with daily in room coffee and newspaper, DVD rental of games and movies, Internet service and free safe rental. These are amenities that our guest enjoys during their stay with us.

We are grateful for your comments

This hotel was a great central location if you plan to do a lot of traveling around the island. The lobby was nice and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The concierge desk offered mats for the beach and other beach gear to use for free. The hotel also had a beach/pool towel service. We ate breakfast at the restaurant once and it was decent. I liked the island pancakes and it was enough food to last me all day. Extra bonus; we happened to be there when Steve-O's comedy tour was at the hotel. Lydgate Park was right outside and was ok for us but would great for people with kids.
The hotel rooms were pretty dingy as were the mattresses and bedding. I left a closed bag of chips on the desk when I went to bed and woke up to the whole desk filled with bugs. They addressed the issue by spraying the desk with some sort of bug repellent. I still saw a few in my room for the remainder of the trip but it didn't bug me because, I was in freaking Hawaii, plus we only used the room to shower and sleep. The room did have a beautiful view, although the sliding door/window was super dirty and did not open in our room.
Overall this is fine for the price but if you plan on staying in hotel room or are more of an upscale traveler then this wouldn't be for you. For us, it was fine.

To enjoy Hawaii at it's most relaxing, then Kauai should be the island of your choice. Want to just walk out steps from your hotel to sandy beach and safe ocean swimming area, then the Aston Aloha Beach Resort is calling you to stay and play! Literally just steps away I'd Lydgate Park with the only protected Ocean swim area on the entire island of Kauai, the scenery is beautiful! Aston Aloha Beach Resort truly graces the "Ohana" (Family) spirit both in their friendly, helpful staff and well-kept garden oasis setting! Restaurant, bar, two swimming pools on property. Plus, you cam enjoy a Luau without having to leave your hotel! Because of this hotel's location, staff, and setting, we now have a new Hawaii destination location ... Aston Aloha Beach Resort ...to which we will return to often!

Room Tip: The "Maile Wing" are the nearest rooms to the ocean, beach and Lydgate park.

“Pretty Good”

We checked alot of reviews before went went to Aloha Beach in Wailua, and most were kind of negative so I was worried it was going to be a dump, not so....
Although it does seem a bit run down but by no means is it a total wreck. The location is awesome, right on Lyngate Beach, great place to swim and watch the sunrise every morning, not to mention see the whales jump all day. Very easy drive to Poipou and Hanalei.
The staff is great, always helpful and happy to see you.

Only negative things are have to say are they really should get some new bed linens, very poor. And no in room safe??? What's up with that? If you bring lots of cash, which we did you have to carry it around with where ever you go, kind of a bummer.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean veiw but not in front, everyone can see right in your room. We were in room1234 and it...
