We stayed here in November 2011. This place is a house which has been converted to separate apartments. We stayed in the downstairs one bedroom. Two of the windows leaked during a heavy rainstorm. It was late at night and the place was cleaned up while we were out the next day.
Lighting is poor and not well thought out. Bring a small reading lamp if you want to read books. I mostly used my ipod for reading. The yard is beautiful. The location is a short walk to Hanalei Bay (one of the world's best beaches). Hanalei town is fun and there is also a farmer's market, which I recommend you visit.
The major issue with this house is that it backs right on to a superLOUD nightclub. They played until 1 or 2 AM almost every night we were there. I don't know why anyone thinks it's a good idea to allow this kind of racket in a residential neighborhood. I think the owners of Hanalei Vacation House are ripping off the public by not telling people that they are right next to this nightclub. For $100+ a night, this rental is a ripoff.
