This is more a warning post than anything. Our cabin was the worst, right out of the 50's The problem was that every cabin around us was owned by people who did care! We took pictures of the other cabins and they do not tell you this when you go to book a rental, We would have gladly paid the extra money for a decent cabin. The next to ours had leather furniture and big stone fireplace, two REAL bathrooms and air conditioning. The complimentary breakfast was generic cereal, white and wheat bread for toast and a few bits of fruit. A friend had said that he had heard about the lodge and it had sounded like the place we can't afford unless we want to give up winter warm-weather trips. At one time, this place was really beautiful. You can see it was very much like the resort from Dirty Dancing. It has a big lodge building and rec building, laundry, sundeck, tennis courts, heated swimming pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes, kayaks. But it's all 50yrs old and falling apart, much like our cabin. In the main lodge/Inn the old dining room where they have the breakfast in the morning has ceiling tiles falling down and one spot had all the insulation hanging from the top. The massive picture windows had rotting frames. Outside, there were areas where the roof/eaves had been eaten away. The pool was not heated and had chemicals/rusted tolls, electrical cords and metal debris on the pool floor. The filter was not turned on until the final evening of our stay. We spoke with another family who stayed at the Inn their first night out because their cabin wasn't available until Saturday and they told me the rooms are themed. The "cat" room had huge cat hairballs on the bed and floor and when the heat came on at night, you could smell the cat urine in the carpeting. The view was spectacular though through the picture windows. Too bad they too hadn't been cleaned in years. Plum Lake is very clear and it takes a real expert to fish this lake, so hire a guide if you want to catch anything. We fished all six days, all hours and caught a total of 3 fish. I don't think any legal size
Go with an updated modern cabin. You really need to ask, the standard 2-bd is $1300/wk, the one w AC...

While I appreciate the review mentioned here I would like to point out that the pool was not operational at the time of this guest's visit because it undergoing a ten thousand dollar revamp and is up to speed compliant with all state laws. Some of our accommodations are condos owned by other people and we rent them out for them. How they chose to decorate their unit is up to them and we have no control over that. Hence, some may have remodeled bathrooms, newer furniture, cable tv, etc. It is best to specify your needs at the time of making a reservation so we can point you in the right direction. Would you believe it, some women don't even want to have a kitchen in their unit!! Who wants to cook on vacation? It is my hope that these folks will return and enjoy a unit that is more to their liking. Unfortunately I can't do anything about the fish. That's up to the fisherman!
