“Worth going off the highway for”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

Looks "okay" on outside. Was much better inside. Lobby spacious, lovely front desk staff. Pool area and spa nicest we've seen in awhile at a hotel. Restaurant/bar worth going to. Food was surprisingly good. Location was better than we expected and not far at all off highway once we figured it out. Were easily able to tour about in Appleton, Neenah area and enjoyed it quite a bit. Would come back. Downtown Neenah looked really nice as did riverfront but weather wasn't good enough for much walking.

Dear AKT1977,

Thank you for sharing several highlights of the Holiday Inn Neenah Riverwalk. Our quiet, centralized location, genuine service, well constructed 24-hour pool /fitness center, and quality in-house restaurant, bar, & room service are amenities difficult to find anywhere else in the Fox Cities. I agree that our box-shaped brick exterior is not the most interesting or accurate “cover” for our current “story”; and please know, Holiday Inn has produced a plan to modernize the exterior of the building at a future time. Additionally, I am sorry the weather did not cooperate with your plans—the parks, Riverwalk, historic homes, and downtown community can be very enjoyable to experience on foot. Thank you again—we are pleased to read that you received value during your stay; and, I look forward to meeting you in the future

Best Regards,
Vince

“1980's hotel and 2011 (over)price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

This hotel feels like it hasn't been upgraded since the early 1980's at best. It is OLD looking through and through (and not in a quaint way). The only thing modern in my room was the flat screen LG TV (which does not feature in-room entertainment, checkout, or ANYTHING). The mattress on the bed is FIRM (as in sleeping on a sheet of plywood firm). The in-room heating system is old, noisy, and dries out the air. The hallways are COLD. And for the price: disposable cups in the bathroom: Really? (and I know some will say they are more sanitary... but that is what a properly run dishwasher is for).

I challenge the staff to disagree with this review.

There are newer hotels in Appleton (just up the road) that are $30/night less expensive. For the little difference in travel, I will try them before I come back here. Honestly: For the price differential I thought I was staying at a premium hotel and feel ripped off.

I can only imagine that they are great at events. The staff was cordial when I checked in... but nothing more than I would expect. The hotel is clean, again, nothing more than expected.

I was born and raised in Neenah and left in 1974. I remember when this hotel was built. Due to my circumstances, I will likely be coming back to Neenah frequently now. But, as I said: it won't be here again... not at this price.

Room Tip: If there is a room overlooking the river, that would be nice.

“Great hotel staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

The shining star here is the great staff: everyone is there to make your stay better, from the desk clerk that checks you in till you check back out again. We were a bit tardy in getting down to the restaurant to get some breakfast, they were about to close, but the clerk at the front desk called and asked them to stay open till we got there. We were the only ones still in the restaurant but they took good care of us, did not rush us and let us stay until we had all the coffee we wanted. The hotel itself is probably a 3 of 5 facility, it is not new but has been kept reasonably updated and clean. the rooms have been redone and include a large flat screen tv, fridge and microwave. We would definitely stay here again.

“Wonderful for Wedding Receptions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

I recently had my wedding reception at the Holiday Inn Neenah Riverwalk. It was an AMAZING experience! Dawn and the staff went above and beyond their normal duties. Our parents were so impressed by the service we were given from the minute we signed our contract to the actual day of the reception. The staff set everything up exactly how I wanted it and helped our parents more than was to be expected in the set up/take down process. Thank you Holiday Inn Neenah Riverwalk for accommodating our reception and all of our guests! It was an amazing experience.

“Nice rooms great staff!”

We stayed for two nights for a Packers game. The check in was quick and the front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly, as was all the staff. We needed a fridge in my room and they made sure we had one. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Nice new large screen lcd tv and a shower with a "high flow" shower head. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, the Packers won!

Hello michaejg,

Thank you for the positive endorsement and for staying with us in Neenah--we are delighted to read that our downtown location provided you with a variety of dining within easy walking distance (Chinese, Thai, Mexican, & Italian Cuisine, Steaks & Seafood, wine bars and coffee shops).

Since we are only about 35 to 40 minutes from the Green Bay Packer’s stadium, I am curious to know if the room price and drive up Hwy 41 were worthwhile trades in order to escape from the noise, chaos and congestion of Green Bay before/after game day. Thanks again and please ask for me the next time you come to root for the Packers!

Best Regards,
Vince
