“Attitude problem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights a Friday and Saturday. They were nice enough to let us into the room before check in time. The room had decent space and was clean . The motel promoted its free Wi-Fi in brochures and its road sign, but we could not get it to work in our room, the hall outside our room or the lobby. When we went to the desk to ask for help the desk clerk said that her computer was working and we should go to a nearby Burger King to use its Wi-Fi. That was the extent of her help and concern. The next day the Wi-Fi was working properly.

“"FORMERLY Comfort Inn" for sure!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

The marquis on the sign reads "Formerly Comfort Inn" (apparently its now Quality Inn) which I agree with... "Formerly" for sure...there was no comfort! We booked last minute (so had little choice) and stayed there while we were visiting family. We had the worst sleep ever! The beds were horribly uncomfortable (my husband and I woke up with an aching back every morning) and the blanket that goes over the sheet only came up to my waist so neither of us slept well at all as we battled to stay warm. In addition, they have 16x16 pillows which we both found odd and uncomfortable. When I vacation, I'd like to feel like I'm on vacation and get a good night's rest but that didn't happen...I couldn't wait to get home to my own bed! Find other accommodations if you can!

Room Tip: Don't stay here unless you want to wake up cranky!

“Wierd Happenings”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2011

Basic clean hotel. But the wierdness started while having soup in lobby. The soup is a nice evening freebie although nothing special in taste. A young women and her boyfriend come into the lobby. Their plan is to swim but want to know what room they can use first. The desk clerk is joking around about not having a swim suit. Later she and and boyfriend are swimming in the pool with street clothes on - tank top and shorts. Makes you wonder what all is happening. Nice place but seems to be managed a little loose.

Thank you for your comments and concerns. I am glad you enjoyed the soup; we like to offer our guests a nice treat to show our appreciation.
I would like to personally apologize for the situation you encountered during your stay. We take our guest comments very seriously and know it will only make us better. Your concerns have allowed me the opportunity to reinforce our procedures with each staff member and to ensure this is not repeated. We do offer our swimming pool to local residents in our area and unfortunately we do not have public changing and shower facilities so we have a designated room for them. We hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you.

“Clean and comfortable--nothing spectacular!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

This hotel was clean and comfortable. Staying in Minocqua can be expensive, but the price was reasonable. Indoor pool was small, but well-kept. Rooms were basic, but clean. Continental breakfast was what you would expect--bagels, cereal, juice, waffles. The hotel is a little but outside of the downtown area, so you need a car. We would stay here again.

“About what you'd expect for the price but with a catch...”

Had a pleasant one night stay at the Comfort Inn. Room was clean although the bathroom was a bit musty. The hotel tried to slip in an additional charge for the room safe which we found odd, particularly since we had no plans to use it. We asked them to remove it at check in and were told they couldn't. We asked again at check out and after more effort than it was worth, the desk agent finally credited our account. The charge is only $1.50 but it seems petty and not a customary practice. Left us feeling 'nickel and dimed.'

Thank you very much for staying with us. I do apologze for the problem that you had encountered with your bill. I do want to reassure you that it was not our intention to try and hide any charges from you. We do have safes avalible in every room in the hotel and they are put there for the guests convenience. We do like to think of our guests security, and also their privacy thus making the safes avaliable. As we are unable to take the fee off upon arrival, we are more then happy to remove the fee upon request at your departure. Again I do apologize for the inconveniece you encountered during your stay and hope that they next time you are in the Minocqua area you will give us a look.
