“Stained glass artistry”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Owners Andrew and Marie have had their work cut out for them restoring this home ravaged by time and vandals before they started their work there. Andrew is a superb stained glass artists, and his work graces this B&B. Eclectic antiques are very nicely worked into the decor. The area of town is close to downtown and the river and many historic sites. The yard offers seating areas where you can relax in sun or shade while being watched by the outdoor cats. Our room was air conditioned, and we enjoyed the large whirlpool tub. Seating in the spacious room was a challenge with the loveseat made when people were shorter. Andrew is well-informed on all things antique, and is a gracious host. We wish them luck as they continue their restoration of this home and the one next door.

“Milwaukee Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2009

Located in Milwaukee's historic Bed and Breakfast District west of downtown in the Concordia neighborood the Manderley is shaded by an old catalpa tree that occupies most of the front yard. This charming home has all the usual attributes of Victorian architecture and elaborate antique furnishings but is in a class of its own for its artistic attention to detail. Andrew Parker and his wife Marie have restored the old beauty magnificently. Bold stenciling and gold painted cove moldings catch the eye immediately on entry and then one can delight in the stained glass throughout the inn (created by the innkeeper), the artful window treatments and the great collection of ceiling fixtures. It was evident that the resident artist, Andrew Parker had displayed his talents in every room of the Manderley. We learned that each and every original stencil had been individually hand painted by our host. This is artwork not to be missed. The poppy seed scones with house made lemon curd were out of this world and freshly baked by Marie Parker. She and her husband were delightful hosts and on next our visit to Milwaukee we will surely return to the Manderley.

“Absolutely wonderful”

The hosts are a wonderfully welcoming, down to earth couple that took care of us without fussing or intruding.

The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We stayed in Bessie's room.

The inn's outdoor cat and very well-behaved dog (kept in the kitchen out of non-doglovers' way) added a sweet, cozy touch.

I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone, anytime.

“Great Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2007

This bed and breakfast was a gem. Lovely room (Millie's Room). We couldn't use the fireplace which would have been nice. The owners renovated this house themselves and the attention to detail in maintaining the historial integrity was impressive.

While I read some concerns about its location, we felt very safe. There is parking on the lot they own next door. Great breakfast!

Our room had a large tub, no shower. There was a pull out hose to assist with washing hair. Overall, very happy with this choice!

“Our Favorite!”

We have stayed at the Manderley Inn on two separate occasions and it always exceeds our expectations, even after touring the Pabst Mansion, we weren't disappointed! The home is lavishly decorated in antiques and makes you feel as if you stepped back in time. The owners are wonderful and their hospitality makes you feel like an old friend. The breakfasts are always great, too. There are many little extras that we enjoy as well that most places don't offer. After staying at many bed and breakfasts we agree that this one is top-notch in hospitality, good breakfasts, and beautiful atmospere and would recommend it to anyone heading to Milwaukee!
