Stayed two nights for a wedding and felt that it was not worth the price (even at a wedding rate) and felt that the hotel was lacking in many areas. First the positive, great location, clean and modern, friendly staff and quick valet. Beds were comfortable but rooms smallish and no refrigerator. Only $2.50 water bottles available in room and coffee. Valet expensive $33 and no other real choice, $10 for wifi and tv channels and movies limited. (Could not watch Brewer game in a milwaukee hotel?)No area guide or phone book in room, radio didnt work, all just little things but annoying. Maid service late afternoon. Pool is tiny and no hot tub, but we knew that coming in. The hotel bar is very small as well. Thought it would be better based on how the hotel looks and previous Marriott experience.

We were in town for a cousin's wedding and my boyfriend's parents put us up in the Marriott. We have no complaints -- turn down service, large rooms, large bathrooms. This hotel has a gorgeous fireplace that greets you and a cozy library. The bar lacked my preferred scotch selection (heavy peat) but other than that, the stay was wonderful. Tip: Park across the street for just $16 a day instead of $33/day valet.

We stayed here with the kids for a quick overnight. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The pool is really tiny but not a problem. I thought the pool closed at 11 but it closed at 10. We were at the Brewers game and the kids wanted to swim so I took them to the pool at about 9:45. Someone came in at 10 and asked when we would be done. I apologized saying I had the hours wrong. He said it was ok to let them swim awhile. So we did for about 15 more minutes. He could have told us to get out but was very nice. Our room was awesome and great for our quick overnight. The valet service was amazing too. The restaurant had good food; the shrimp appetizer was awesome though I cannot remember what it was called. The front desk had the nicest staff. Thank you to everyone for a great stay.

We have stayed twice at this new downtown hotel property. It is exquisitely designed in a contemporary, yet historical manner creating a very unique, comfortable setting. It is located on a very popular area of the city (MIlwaukee Street and Wisconsin Avenue.) so guests have ready access to walk to all of the entertainment and restaurants. It is also a short walk (15 minutes) to the Lake Front for Museums and exercise, experiencing beautiful vistas. The Milwaukee River walk is two/three blocks west of the property.

The guest rooms are reasonable in size and well appointed with very comfortable beds, great bathroom amenities and business work space It would be great if they had in room refrigerators and they have single cup coffee makers that inevitably only have one regular coffee pod. However they are happy to quickly provide more.

The property has a fairly comprehensive fitness facility that provides the opportunity to get a great work out while traveling. There is a pool as well, which we didn't have time to use.

The property provide complementary coffee in the restaurant lobby area that is "real coffee"!!

Speaking of the restaurant, they have a great selection of Wisconsin craft beers and other Wisconsin/MIlwaukee food specialties. The food and service when we were there was very good.

I highly recommend this property for a romantic get away, business meeting or special occasion. I am sure that bring kids would be doable, but I think there may be other places more conducive.

Valet parking is available and expensive, however, you can self park across the street in a covered lot for half the price and the hotel is kind enough to tell you about it. The door personnel are outstanding. Overall, it appears that every one of the staff enjoys working at the property.

We'll be back.

Room tip: Ask for a high floor facing east.

Reading a couple of the negative reviews, I guess I just have to say that anyone, any hotel, can have a bad day. This place is in my top five favorite Marriotts I've stayed in - and I've stayed in a lot of 'em.

First, it's nearly new, and everything is in Marriott's new style: dark wood, lots of contemporary features, etc. Yet, they've managed to keep the 'old school' feel of the building they repurposed. Let's be clear, though - this was no remodel. Despite the age of the original building, everything is completely new here.

While I didn't eat at the restaurant, I did enjoy a couple of cocktails with Pat, the bartender, who was a wonderfully affable dude. He knows his stuff, and he was delightful to chat with.

The coolest part of my short visit was the executive lounge on the 2nd floor. As you exit the elevators, the lounge is at the end of a long hallway (think of the TV show "Get Smart" if you're old enough to remember) with two towering doors at the entrance. Using the key card to enter, the doors unlock like a huge safe, allowing entry. Sweet! Once inside, the food was plentiful and great.

Try this place. It's positioned to be a big part of Milwaukee's resurgent downtown - and you'll love it, too!
