Greeted by a prison guard. The looks of the hotel say it all. Thankfully I was there only for one night.

I stayed at the Kaukauna Settle Inn over the weekend for a friend's wedding. I wasn't going to be there much since I was the photographer. I just needed a place to sleep. I was pleased to find out that my room was right next to the back entrance (I could park my car back there, and I'm a smoker). My room was very clean, with plenty of extra towels, coffee, and information about the area. The bed was so comfortable, I wanted to take it home with me! The folks working at the front desk were very accommodating, lending me their iron several times. The continental breakfast was perfect, and coffee 24 hours (my favorite)! I would definitely stay here again if traveling down to visit.
My family and I recently spent two nights at the Settle In in Kaukauna, WI. As you enter the hotel, there is a sign saying that you'd be charged $250 if you smoke in any of the rooms, however both of the rooms that we stayed reeked of smoke and there was a burn on the carpet in our room. We also found some food wrappers in the room from previous guests--ugh! There was a dirty sock from a previous guest in the other room we rented. The rooms did not appear to have been cleaned thoroughly. When I spoke to the woman at the reservation counter about these issues, she said she wasn't surprised and that someone else had brought her a cigarette butt from one of the other rooms. She also said she would report these issues and gave us coupons for $20 off our next stay. She should have given us the $20 off for this stay! Also, and this was a huge concern of mine, the side door that leads into the hotel was unlocked despite a sign saying that it was locked. I reported this several times and was told that it would be taken care of. The way it was taken care of was that masking tape was put over the sign saying the door was locked! We had four small children with us at the hotel and having this door unlocked made us feel very uncomfortable--knowing that anyone could walk into the hotel. The only positive thing I can say about the hotel is that the breakfast that was provided was adequate. They served a variety of things from Belgium waffles, toast, English muffins, blueberry muffins, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, etc.
My husband and I traveled up to Wisconsin for a Packers game & we stayed at the Settle Inn Kaukauna. The hotel itself (appearance, cleanliness) wasn't that bad. The people at the counter were corteous excluding one gentleman who was only there for a short period of time so I wasn't able to get his name. It seems that they overbooked my room, which they didn't tell me until I got there. They had me in 3 different rooms for a 4-day trip. I finally convinced them that if I absolutely had to switch rooms, which I felt I shouldn't have had to, that I was only going to do it once. I got downgraded into a regular room from a room with a jacuzzi & refrigerator. The other people supposedly booked before us in November so they had 'first dibs'. I would have left the hotel and checked in somewhere else, that's how angry I was but it was New Years weekend and I was lucky to have a room so unfortunately I had to swallow this. I think they knew that, which is why they weren't willing to budge or try to accomodate me. I don't think that's good business. Otherwise, Wisconsin was beautiful and the Packers won the game. Thank god for that :D
