I was very disappointed by this place. I travel a lot and stay in many nice hotels in all the major chains such as Hilton, Mariott, Westin, and the like. For the money, I thought this place was a big disappointment.
The ambience of the whole place is strange. The halls have very high cielings and strange lighting, the entrance area is large and seems empty. The pool is extensive, great for kids, but not so much for adults. The breakfast is as bad as any Super 8, and is down the hall in the basement in a brightly fluorescently lit room. There was nothing on the menu except carbs. the coffee was not good.
There are no in-room coffee makers, fridges, or microwaves. The bathrooms are somewhat outdated. However, the towels are good quality. They did not bring more toiletries daily, as most hotels do. The bedspreads, linens, drapes left a lot to be desired. the fitted sheets would not stay on the mattress. The heating and cooling system was OK. The furnishings are cheap and worn out, as were the chairs in the entry area.
One of the biggest disappointments was that the seating area near the bar, where a person could go to read or hang out, was not lit. Additionally, the Wifi only works in the lobby area, and there is limited seating there. Terrible.
The security was fine. The front office staff was attentive to our needs.
You get a discount on House on the Rock tickets if you stay here, but I think you could save money by staying at a well known motel chain in Dodgeville and get a better deal.
