“Lovely resort, but a bit overpriced”

My husband and I spent two nights here and had an enjoyable time. The lodge atmosphere with a great Pacific Northwest flavor and incredible views of the Gorge are lovely. We stayed in a 2nd floor king bed room overlooking the gorge. The room's view was the best aspect of it; everything else was nice but seemed not quite worth the regular rate of 200.00 per night (we went on a groupon deal). The golf course, hiking trails, pool and outdoor hot tub were all very nice. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The conference facilities looked very nice.

I was not very impressed with the food at either restaurants for the prices they charged. If you like buffets they appeared reasonable (there were buffets Friday night (30.00) Saturday morning (14.95) and a Sunday brunch for (30.00) For lunch we each had a caesar salad which I had salmon on and my husband had shrimp. They seemed skimpy on the lettuce and not worth the15.00 they charged for each salad. After looking at Saturday's dinner menu at the main restaurant we chose to not go to as the prices indicated dinner would be about 50.00 each (without drinks) and as we weren't real impressed with the previous meals there, we asked a local for advice about restaurants in nearby Stevenson.

Room Tip: Even though I didn't see the views from the other side, I would absolutely recommend a room over...

“Wonderful Place”

Very nice lodge atmosphere, rooms were clean, staff helpful, and good conference facilities. Beautiful views of the Columbia Gorge and large grounds for hiking and exploring. Food in the restaurant was excellent.

“Large Lodge in the Gorge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We took our 2 kids to this lodge for a night. I was worried that it wouldn't be family friendly, but it was perfect. The kids loved the pool and hot tubs. And we all liked having the chance to unwind in the dining room. The food was excellent. We had a river view room and the view was beautiful. It was an economical weekend because we purchased our room through a groupon. A great way to go. I would recommend this lodge as a relaxing get away for everyone.

“Weekend Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I just spent one night at the lodge. We arrived about 1:00 in the afternoon and our room was already available. We had a fourth floor, king bed room with a view of the gorge looking east. The room was very clean and comfortable. There were several conferences going on and at least one wedding. The hotel was busy but not overwhelming. We took a short hike around the golf course. There was a lot of branches, debris and snow on the trail. It made the hike a little more adventurous. We ate dinner in town then headed back to have a few drinks in the bar. The bartenders were friendly and the sevice was speedy. We took a dip in the outdoor hot tub. There were some kids in the pool area but they never ventured outside to the hot tub. We shared the tub with two other couples but there was plenty of room have our own space. In the morning we opted to forgo the $30 brunch and ate at a local diner in Stevenson. All in all a very nice getaway. We will return in the spring when there are more opportunities for outdoor recreation. It also would have been nice to have a fireplace room but they were fully booked. Happy travels

“We had a wonderful time!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

This lodge is perfectly placed up along the hillside with a great view of the river. We stayed there during the winter time so the snowy weather added to the ambiance. The lodge lobby was the highlight of the place boasting a real wood fireplace (very large). Why do I make such a big deal of a "real wood fireplace?" Well, most places will have a fireplace that is gas fed with fake logs. This is just not the same. Hearing the crackle of the wood, the smell of oak, and cozying up in a perfectly placed rocking chair was awesome. The other side of the lodge boasts a great daytime views of the gorge/river.

The food was okay. Not bad, but not great. The Friday night buffet was a bit overpriced ($35) and did not include drinks. The breakfast buffet on Saturday was reasonably priced and good.

The rooms were very well adorned. Ours had a gas fireplace, sitting area, and all the amenities expected. Their were a few minor mechanical defects in the room, however, they did not affect the experience.

They have an indoor pool and spa as well as a beautiful outdoor rock jacuzzi. They were very well maintained. We were unable to take advantage of the spa services due to scheduling conflicts. These were not the fault of the resort.

The power went out the second day due the weather. The staff was very efficient in tending to the guests needs without power. This provided ample time to cozy up to the fireplace again!!

Room Tip: The rooms that are odd numbered face the river/gorge. Also, ask for an upgrade to a room with a fire...
