“very comfortable rooms in a wooded setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2010

i agree with all the other reviews about how comfortable the rooms, beds and towels are. it's so convenient to have a microwave and shared fridge because there are few restaurants or stores nearby, so bring plenty of food and groceries when you stay here.
the bathroom was new and the amenities were very good. however, the in-room coffee is weak and tv is limited to 15 channels. also the walls are very thin so you can hear tv and conversations, but the nights i stayed everyone seemed to go to bed early so it wasn't a problem.
the owner is nice and available for local information. it's a convenient place to stay for access to north cascades national park.
i thought the place was a little over-priced, but every place else in the area is VERY over-priced. so for the area, it's a reasonable rate.

“Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2010

Great place to stay at affordable rates. Don't let the outside fool you. the rooms are currently being renovated (ours had been) and very nice inside. Owner very friendly. My only suggestion, windows in the back of the room to allow for cross breeze and more light to come in. Kinda dark

“Grat value, Friendly host and newly refurbished”

I Stayed for two nights using this as a base for the North cascades. They have been refurbishing the rooms and I expect all will done by mid summer, but be sure task for a new room. The outside is still the same old 50's motel which has a certain rustic charm, but the insides are remodeled and comfortable. My neighbors were a very quiet dutch couple but i expect the walls are pretty much 1950 standard thin.
What made this special (other than a great price) was friendly owner and little touches like Real plates and silverware.

“Great Stay...Great People...and Eagles Too!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2010

This was kind of a long shot. Picked this out of the blue and it was a real gem. If you need a Westin or Hyatt, this is not for you, but it offers simple, clean, and comfortable accommodations at a great price. $50.00 for one and $5.00 extra for spouse. Color TV with HBO, individual heated rooms, and the heat works great! Our room had a coffee maker and a microwave as well as real dishes. The towels were really nice and the beds were extremely comfortable. We often have an issue with the beds in even some awesome hotels, but these were really nice. As said before, no phone in room or internet around and not much, if any cell coverage, but that can be good too.We stayed in room 8, which had a King bed as well as a Queen. Communal refrigerator outside is a nice and somewhat homey touch.

A word of warning about visiting in the off season, not much open in the way of restaurants around the motel on weekdays, you can get some food in Concrete. Also, stock up on supplies early in the day from the local food stores, We ate at the Eatery for lunch and breakfast, really good sausage gravy, and at the Buffalo Inn Restaurant for one dinner, good buffalo stroganoff!

The eagles are amazing now so stay at the Totem Trail, leave your cell phone behind and enjoy a great place and some really nice people.

BTW: the liquid hand soap in the bathroom is the motels, I thought my wife brought it and packed it up....!

“Off the beaten track charm in a peaceful & rustic setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2009

Cozy 8 room motel which at first glance looks like something out of a David Lynch movie was a nice change of pace from chain motels and tourist traps aand at $50.00 for a single, it was a bargain.

My room was very cozy and clean. The bed was actually comfortable and had a fresh clean smell to it. Rooms are simple with no phones and no hair dryers, but Sonia put other welcoming touches to the room with new fluffy towels, nice new showers, coffee and tea service, fresh flowers as well as a microwave and real dishes and silverware. A communal refrigerator is available just outside the guest rooms.

Outside, a small picnic area with BBQ grill was welcomed as I enjoyed cooking my own steak outside in the fresh air instead of spending $32.00 for one at the tourist trap restaurant down the road. Cooking utensils and firewood were availalbe for use as well.

Just 1.5 hours from my home, this will become a get-away spot from time to time.
