If you find yourself in the Seattle area and will be staying for a weekend or an entire vacation The Brauer Cove Guest House is worth looking into. I was on a 4 day trip to Seattle/Bainbridge Island WA. to look at and possibly purchase a boat (I did purchase it) unfortunately I flew in to late to get the ferry to Bainbridge so I stayed the first night in Seattle That hotel was very much the norm and I was only there for 4 hours to sleep. I was off to Bainbridge and spent the day with the surveyor and got to the Brauer Cove Guest House late in the evening. The directions from Catherine (the owner) were perfect so follow them. Once you've been there it is very easy to get in and out.
I was immediately charmed by the idea that I was pulling into a private home driveway complete with boats and bicycles and such in the yard. The instructions told me to enter on the water side and the keys would be on the table. I walked around the back of the house and there was Mike, Catherine's husband, watching his boy motoring a boat around the cove out behind the house. I introduced myself and we talked and watched the the boy play for about 30 minutes. I asked for directions to a steak house and Mike called his neighbor David, who came over right then and gave me the best recommendation. We all chatted a bit and I went inside to the most beautifully decorated clean apartment. Yes apartment, and it has 2 bedrooms complete with huge closets. One king and two twins. Way more room than I needed but the price was right and the location was simply beautiful. When I was leaving for my steak dinner David said if I wanted to sail that evening his Hobie Cat was set up and I was welcome to use it. What wonderful Neighbors to have! The unfortunate thing about this trip is that I had long days away from the Brauer House so I could only enjoy it at night, which I did very much. There is a kitchenette with a convection/microwave, a full size fridge, a kitchen sink, coffee pot, and if you look in the cabinet you will find a portable cooktop. The fridge is supplied with a few essentials and there are grocery stores very close by.
There is also a washer and dryer, a wood stove,a nice dining table, a great big overstuffed love seat and chair, very comfy! The bathroom features a large whirlpool tub which I used 3 times.
You could spend the entire vacation right here and never have a moment of boredom, but that ferry ride into Seattle is something to be repeated I crossed 6 times while there (once in the boat I purchased) and enjoyed every voyage. Seattle is a place to see also so try to get out once or twice.
I highly recommend this wonderful Brauer Cove Guest House. You can really relax here and for me at least that is just the kind of place I want to be after a day of hectic working or playing. You wake up ready for the next day of relaxation or excitement.
My wife set up my entire stay and ferry schedules, car rental etc. online. I had no worries when I arrived and though it was a fast paced trip I had ZERO stress while there. Thanks Honey.
And thank you Catherine, I had a wonderful time.
