Aaaahhhhh.
Blissful rest. Gorgeous scenery. Exquisite design. A shower to die for.
All I know is that I will be back here, as soon as I can manage it. As cliché as it may sound, all the cares of the world literally melt away from me as I step into this beautiful guest house. Every detail has been thought of. I’ve been sitting here with a smile on my face as I look around me. I love all the dramatic lighting and have fun figuring out all the switches. I adore the two-way fireplace with the flat screen TV above it, the extensive music collection and wonderful sound system. I love the choclately brown sheets on the bed that make me want to sleep the day away.
And then there’s the bathroom. It really speaks for itself. Slate tiles on every surface. I love the gorgeous grays and browns and rust colors woven throughout them. The color scheme on the walls of the cottage take their cue from these stones. And the shower? OH yeah. Let’s see, you can choose to have the water come through one or more of five different shower heads. I love the wet smell of the slate as I enjoy my 30 minute long shower. That seems way too short. I’m trying to come up with an excuse to go back in there and take another one. Of course I could, but the other dilemma I have is maybe I would rather sink into that lovely deep tub.
The peek-a-boo view of the Puget Sound is wonderful. Two pretty lounge chairs await us and our morning coffee.
I am a relatively seasoned pleasure traveler. I have stayed in a wide variety of places over the years. I’ve enjoyed the Empress hotel in Victoria, the Grand Wailea in Maui and the Grand Californian at Disneyland, all beautiful hotels with a luxurious feel. I have stayed in Bed and Breakfasts in England, gorgeous inns in Scotland and a lovely 400 year old mansion in Wales. I’ve enjoyed local B&Bs in Seattle, Bremerton and little boutique hotels in waterfront locations.
The thing I love about this place is that it is the PLACE itself that is worth coming to. It is quiet, serene and beautiful. The hostess has forgotten nothing. It is the perfect place to get away from our loud and busy lives and just…exhale. The fully equipped kitchen has lovely food for breakfast waiting for us. We could go into town and go shopping, take a scenic drive. We could find great golf courses and trails to go hiking on I’m sure. But why should we?
How lovely to have a day where the most difficult choice is to take a nap or another shower. The Bremerton Ferry, with the calls of the seagulls following, is the only traffic. The salty air blowing in through the open doors on the balcony, hmmm. And with the tide out you can walk along the rocks and look for clams and other treasures.
The Pan-Asian décor, blending Northwest craftsmen with touches of Asian art brings serenity. The owner’s equestrian lifestyle is evident throughout with bronze statue and whimsical paintings of horses.
Finally, this place has privacy. Total privacy and peace. A place to find yourself at rest. Bring your own food and stay for days. Romantic honeymoons, anniversaries or long weekends for two.
