“Hard to complain considering the price, but...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2006

I went to Williamsburg with a small group of Girl Scouts, on a very limited budget. This hotel had the right price. The rooms were adequate, no frills, but clean. The motel is quite a bit off the beaten path, which was inconvenient, but understandable considering the price. The continental breakfast was very basic: doughnuts, cornflakes, and toast.

The big problem we had with this hotel was the other guests. There were a large number of men (maybe construction workers) staying long term here. There was a lot of drinking, and we definitely smelled marijuana smoke. When we went to the pool to swim, all of the men came out to the balcony to watch. This was scary, especially when travelling with a bunch of 12-14 year old girls.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing family vacation.

“Great Customer Service Nice Rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2004

We stayed at the pottery because its close to the pottery outlets, the rooms were newly renovated, and looked great. The service was exellent, not a speck of dust was to be found in the rooms since my father with whom i was travelling with is allergic to some types of dust and pollen. The beds are new with great pillows and matress pads. We got the room for an awsome rate and ive slept at hiltons and other fine hotels and this one tops them all!

On the side note, i am not sure what the review above me is all about, my girlfriends are the ones that recommended this place and they have been going there for years. Never had a problem..

Great Rooms, Great Service, Great Price...

“Great Thanksgiving Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2004

My extended family along with my own family needed a place to stay for after thanksgiving shopping. We decided to stay at the pottery since it was close to all the outlet shopping centers and especially close to the pottery outlet. The location made it easy for us to get our hands on the deals first thing in the morning. The staff was courteous and even provided us with a wake up call!. The morning breakfast was okay with a choice of cereal, coffee and juice and pastries, just enough. There are plenty of reasturants nearby to get something to eat if thats not enough too. The rooms were clean and had a crisp linen scent to them. The heating worked perfectly and overall the stay was great!

Would definately recommend staying at this Econo Lodge.

“Disgusting Hotel!!!!”

I stayed here Oct. 03. i was traveling with my brother and sister-in-law, and we decided to travel to Williamsburg to celebrate a couple of our birthdays. We wanted to go to busch gardens for their Howl-o-Scream festival going on. Everything went well , until we had to find a hotel for the night. It was during the aftermath of the bad hurriane/storm, and Williamsburg was full of contractors cleaning up the mess/damage. Every hotel was full and filled up. At last we had no other choice , but to stay here. What a filthypig-stye. There were no blankets under the spreads, and the spreads were just paper-thin, i had a huge bloody looking stain on my sheet. There was a pair of dirty underwear by the electric socket by first bed. The bathroom was even more disgusting with black bugs right by the toilet on the wall. The carpet in the room looked like no one believed in running a vacuum. Just gross and disgusting. We never recieved a "I'm sorry" when we checked out the next morning, and i even complained to the Choice hotels web-site, and recieved a hand-written letter from the hotel. It consisted of an "Were sorry about your stay, and that was it". Never again, do not stay here.
