“NIce Quiet Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

This is a nice hotel located near a college town and away from I-81. The room is nice and very clean. The tv is older but they have 70+ channels. The rooms are on an inside hallway. It was quiet at night.

The breakfest was OK. There is no room in the lobby to eat, so you have to eat in your room. They do offer trays. They had english and blueberry muffins, cold cereal, box juice, coffee and tea.

Make sure you eat at BT's downtown.

There is not an elevator to the 2nd floor.

“Great value”

We were helping our daughter and son-in-law with a move and were 1st time visitors to the area. They only had "smoking" rooms left, but it turned out the room was fresh and had no odors. Everything was clean, comfortable (comfy beds), roomy, and quiet. The a/c worked great and the sound was not distracting at "low fan", as the temp was consistently humid and 90's all day and even into the night. Basic carb. cont. breakfast, but for the$52 bucks +tax that we paid, we didn't expect a "full" breakfast. The in-room coffee actually tasted good , unlike our experience with most places, even highly rated ones! Staff was friendly. It was a great deal, and it was just down the street from Radford U. We will stay here again when we visit.

My family and I stayed during the Va Bike 2011 and was very pleased with everything. Beds were very comfortable and the staff went out of there way to make sure everyone was pleased. The staff was great and very helpful with directions. The desk clerks Aron and Gina were very helpful and went out of there way for us.

This is a good hotel for a good price. We went for Virginia Tech graduation weekend and were thrilled at the price we payed as everywhere was charging an arm and a leg. Beds are comfortable, bathroom is well stocked, smells clean. No iron in the room but we were able to get one from the front desk with no problem. We did not eat the breakfast, but for the price paid for the room we wouldn't have expected much.

“You Get What You Pay For...”

Well, the Super 8 in Radford is 1) clean enough, 2) cheap, and 2) fairly easy to find. I think most travelers can do better, though.

Desk staff was unable to print a receipt at check-in or check out. A car alarm went off at an early hour and continued for at least an hour. The staff wrung their hands and said there was nothing they could do, despite having forms requiring every guest's make, model and license plate.

"Continental Breakfast" takes on a whole new meaning as guests are meant to take the one plastic tray from their room, and carry it downstairs, load up their tray and return to their rooms to eat. That's right--there is no dining area. It is a really small dorm style fridge and counter to the left of reception. Guests help themselves to a pathetic assortment of coffee, bagels, english muffins, oatmeal packets. In my entire life on the road, I have never seen such a small assortment of breakfast food. I think there were three english muffins and 1 bagel, and I was not a late riser. I felt that I might have done better by buying my own food from a market in town. Then at least I could have juice, yogurt, maybe a hard boiled egg, cream cheese for the bagel.

Managing a tray filled with breakfast for two, you are then required to go outside, and swipe your key while balancing the tray in one hand, and then somehow pull on the heavy door to open it without dropping anything.

If you are looking for nothing more than a place to sleep, you could stay here.
